This game is setting up to be one of the most entertaining of the first round, as we have two teams that can put the ball into the basket and don’t prevent the other team from doing so. Davidson suffered a heartbreaking loss in the A-10 Final to Richmond, as Foster Loyer missed a three-pointer late that would have given the Wildcats the lead and likely the win.
Loyer, a Michigan State transfer, will be in charge of an offense that ranks 304th in pace against a team in Michigan State that likes to run up and down the floor for their scoring opportunities. Davidson might just be the better team in this matchup, and Michigan State’s knack for turning the ball over may be their Achilles heel.
If Loyer and Davidson are able to turn this into a half-court game, which I think they will, I like their chances of winning this game. Michigan State has had that fraudulent stench on them for a while now, and I think this Davidson team is motivated to show the world just how good they are.
