Memphis is an incredibly hard team to read this year, which now seems to be par for the course under head coach Penny Hardaway. The Tigers have impressive wins over the likes of Michigan State, Missouri, Clemson, Ole Miss and UConn. Unfortunately, they also have ugly losses to Arkansas State and Temple. The team has incredible starpower, with PJ Haggerty averaging over 21 points. The big question will be the status of Tyrese Hunter, who averages just under 14 points per game. Right now, it appears he will not return for this game which is a huge blow to the Tigers.
Colorado State is been on a hot run as of late, winning 10 games straight. While Memphis likes to play fast, the Rams like to slow it down. They have an efficient offense and defense and don’t really have a “weakness.” The Rams have a difference-maker of their own as well, with guard Nique Clifford averaging 19 points and just under 10 rebounds per game.
If Tyrese Hunter was able to suit up and/or at 100%, the pick here would be Memphis. However, Memphis has been much too inconsistent under Penny Hardaway and Colorado State is the picture of consistency.
