The Maryland Terrapins are one of the most talented teams in the NCAA Tournament and are somehow still flying under the radar. The Terrapins have the highest-scoring starting lineup in the country, led by center Derik Queen who averages 16 points, nine rebounds, a steal and a block per game. They not only score at will and push the pace in transition, but they’re also a great defensive team who also are good at rebounding. The only issue for the Terrapins is their lack of bench and sometimes questionable shot decisions. As long as they can deal with those two things, nothing can stop this team from going deep in this tournament.
While the Lopes don’t have a starting five that can match up with Maryland, they do still get solid production from guard Tyon Grant-Foster and forward JaKobe Coles, who both average over 14 points. Grand Canyon loves to play at blazing-fast speeds and thrives by getting to the free throw line. With a very experienced team, this may be the year the Lopes finally make a deep run.
This game has upset written all over it. With that in mind, Maryland’s starting lineup is just too deep and too good. They have plenty of size and their defense will be able to keep Grand Canyon’s offense in check and will control the paint.
