Strengths
Josh Downs is another one of those slippery, gadget players that uses his speed and pure athleticism to burn opposing defenses. Due to his small frame, Downs uses his quickness and sudden cuts to win his assignments consistently and create proper separation. His production in back-to-back seasons proves he can easily find a role in most NFL offenses as a slot receiver with big-play ability and surprisingly tough hands.
Weaknesses
Like most undersized receivers, Downs lacks true strength and will struggle against physical cornerbacks and defenses. Although he exhibits impressive catch toughness for his size, he has struggled with focus drops throughout his career and gets bullied by physical press cornerbacks. On top of that, he often leaves his routes unfinished and doesn’t show enough discipline in his cuts.
