John Metchie III Draft Profile

Strengths

John Metchie III can run every professional route. He can easily break off routes with quick turns and stops. Metchie succeeds at catching passes in both the middle of the field, as well as down the sideline, and he has shown improved catching in traffic in 2021. He works back to the ball on hitches and curls, and Metchie is capable of doing damage after the catch.

Weaknesses

With his route running, Metchie struggles to beat defenders with speed, and he turns his head to indicate what route he is running. He may struggle to beat NFL defenders in 50-50 balls, and he uses his body to catch balls. Injuries are a concern, as Metchie is coming off of a torn ACL.
