Ja’Marr Chase Highlights
Ja’Marr Chase Draft Profile
Strengths
Ja’Marr Chase chose not to play in the obscure 2020 college football season that was and instead focused all of his training and preparation on the 2021 NFL Draft. In essence, Chase went out on top. He was the go-to target for Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow on LSU’s 2019 national championship team. Chase set the single-season SEC record for both receiving yards and touchdowns as a true sophomore. He possesses sure hands, terrific route-running technique and explosiveness after the catch. He is also more than capable as a blocker. Chase truly gets the most out of his NFL receiver-caliber size and athleticism.
Weaknesses
The main question mark surrounding Chase is whether or not his production in 2019 is indicative of things to come at the next level. The entire LSU offense was a machine that season. With Chase opting to sit out all of 2020, the data points aren’t as numerous from his college career as they otherwise might have been. He also has a tendency to run routes upright, enabling corners to disrupt his progress by playing tight press coverage.
