Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

The Jaguars’ offense struggled yet again in a Week 12 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The fact that the Jags could only muster 14 points against the horrendous Atlanta defense says a lot about where Jacksonville is at offensively at the moment. In total, the Jaguars have only topped 20 points in three games to date. It has been a rather frustrating rookie season for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He has certainly been forced to deal with losing far more games than he did throughout his entire college football career at Clemson. A lack of playmakers around him along with a poor offensive line has not made anything easy for Lawrence.

Making matters worse for the Jaguars’ offense in Sunday’s NFL betting matchup and for the remainder of the season was a knee injury sustained by tight end Dan Arnold last week. On a team completely void of reliable receiving weapons, Arnold had quietly been a primary target for Lawrence over the past several games. It would also figure to benefit the team if Urban Meyer would actually utilize top weapon James Robinson down in the red zone. Instead, the Jags squandered a long drive in last week’s game as the second-year RB watched from the sidelines. One thing the Jaguars do have going for them in this matchup against the Rams is their defensive front. Led by the NFL’s superior Josh Allen, Jacksonville should be able to clog the running lanes and force pressure against a vulnerable L.A. offensive line.

Los Angeles Rams Preview

After starting the season by winning seven of their first eight games, the Rams have now dropped three straight. In fact, with an open date two weeks ago, Los Angeles went winless for the entire month of November. It seems that no amount of star talent and player acquisitions can fully fix what ails Sean McVay’s team. Losing wideout Robert Woods to a season-ending ACL injury certainly did not help the offense. While Van Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. have already proven capable of stepping up alongside Cooper Kupp, the health of QB Matthew Stafford is of greater concern for the Rams. Stafford is reportedly dealing with a chronic back injury and has not looked like himself in the last few games.

With Stafford playing at less than 100%, the Rams could really stand to see their offensive line step up in Sunday’s NFL betting matchup. It has been tough sledding on the ground for L.A. in recent weeks, a major problem in an offense that requires a great deal of balance. Further complicating matters for the run game this week is a questionable tag bestowed upon lead RB Darrell Henderson Jr. Expect Sony Michel to be the featured back if Henderson is indeed ruled out. Despite the presence of numerous superstars, the Rams enter Week 13 ranked 21st in the NFL in points allowed. The fact that they are ninth in adjusted defensive efficiency suggests that Aaron Donald and Co. are not entirely to blame for several scores allowed.
