The East Division Finals in the NHL Playoffs have been a fantastic series thus far. After the Boston Bruins managed to take back a game on the road, Game 4 saw the New York Islanders put on a clinic. This NHL betting preview for the Islanders vs Bruins NHL Playoffs matchup will provide game info, betting trends, odds and a prediction for Game 5 of this series.

Goaltender Semyon Varlamov simply would not let the Islanders leave Long Island with a series deficit. He was brilliant in Saturday’s Game 4 triumph, posting a .966 save percentage and stopping 28 of the 29 shots fired on him. Mathew Barzal whipped a flying puck out of midair for what proved to be the decisive tally in the third period. It was Barzal’s second straight game scoring a goal after he also netted New York’s lone tally in Game 3. The Islanders showed their depth and toughness in this win. They’ll look to grab a series advantage for the first time on Monday night as NHL betting underdogs.

Although Game 4 was tied into the latter stages of the third period, it sure felt like the Bruins got outplayed. Give goalie Tuuka Rask a lot of credit for keeping Boston in it and even affording his team a chance to win right until the very end. He stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced and will need to play strong once again back home this evening. David Krejci scored the only Bruins goal in Game 4. Both David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand assisted on the tally. While the Bruins clearly have the best line in this series, it’s still somewhat up in the air as to whether they can match the Islanders across all four shifts.
