Iowa State vs Lipscomb Prediction | March Madness Expert Picks
It seems like a recent trend has been picking a 14-Seed to upset a 3-Seed. Maybe this is because 3-Seeds oftentimes aren’t the best in their conferences, but they are good enough to be highly ranked all season. These high rankings oftentimes hide inadequacies from said teams. While there are some in this Iowa State team, they rolled a great matchup with Lipscomb in the first round.
A trio of high-scoring players has led Iowa State. Curtis Jones leads the team in scoring at 17.1 points per game (PPG), while shooting 42.3% from the field and 37.2% from behind the three-point line. Keshon Gilbert is the next-highest scorer but has been ruled out due to injury. That leaves Joshua Jefferson as the Cyclones next highest scorer at 13 PPG. In Gilbert’s absence though, Milan Momcilovic should be the next go-to guy. On the season, he has averaged 11.4 PPG, including shooting 40.6% from behind the arc.
For Lipscomb, the Bisons score a ton of points during their games (79.3 per game). Those 79.3 points are put together by a quintet of players. Jacob Ognacevic is one of the highest scorers in the country, averaging 20.1 PPG on 57.3% from the field and 40.2% from the three-point line. Along with Ognacevic, Will Pruitt pours in 13.2 PPG. The name to watch for the Bisons though is Joe Anderson who scores 12.5 PPG, while shooting 40.5% from behind the three-point line, while hitting 77 threes on the season.
This Lipscomb team is a very fun team to watch and given that Gilbert is out for the Cyclones, I think this game is closer than a lot of people will think. Sheboygan native Ognacevic is a superstar in the college game, but given Iowa State’s strong defense and Lipscomb’s lack of talent in the ASUN, it would be foolish to pick against the Cyclones.
For our Iowa State vs Lipscomb prediction, we are picking the Iowa State Cyclones to win and move on in the NCAA Tournament.
