Heat vs 76ers Prediction

One of the prevailing narratives following the 76ers’ no-show performance in Game 5 on Tuesday night was that Joel Embiid was playing distracted after not winning the NBA MVP Award. Anyone who took into account what Nikola Jokic meant to the Denver Nuggets this season is not surprised by the voting results. If Embiid really did let the award results get to his head and disrupt his play on the court, the Sixers could be in big trouble tonight.

Of course, the Heat vs 76ers injury report suggests that Philly may not even have their best player on the floor. After taking another shot to the face in Game 5, Embiid is deemed to be questionable for Thursday’s matchup. His presence on the floor is vital if the Sixers hope to force a Game 7. Without him, Bam Adebayo was able to dominate the reserve 76ers big men inside in Games 1 and 2.

At the end of the day, it would be shocking to see Embiid sit out an elimination game. What the 76ers need to be more concerned about is other players stepping up offensively. Just when the NBA world thought James Harden was back after his big Game 4 outing, he was inconsequential to the outcome of Philly’s Game 5 loss. Tyrese Maxey also had his worst game of the series thus far.

On the bright side for Philadelphia, the Heat are highly unlikely to have seven players score in double figures as they did on Tuesday. It would likely take a massive effort from Jimmy Butler for Miami to successfully close out this series on the road.

Heat vs 76ers Prediction: 76ers 101, Heat 93
