FCS Spring Football Top-10 Headlines | College Football News

(1) Weber State dusted off a scrappy Northern Arizona team. Signal-caller Randall Johnson had three passing touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards. The Wildcats head to Southern Utah next weekend. The Wildcats control their own destiny in the Big Sky conference. A win over Southern Utah, coupled with a Eastern Washington loss at UC Davis, would be huge news for Weber State.

(2) North Dakota State, (3) South Dakota State and (6) North Dakota were all idle this weekend. (2) NDSU and (3) SDSU match-up next weekend at the FargoDome. It’s very likely that whoever wins that game next weekend, will get the automatic bid for the MVFC.

(4) James Madison finally played a game, and what a game it was. The Dukes beat up on William & Mary, 38-10. James Madison never trailed in this game, which is a good sign going into next weekend’s match-up with (9) Richmond next weekend.

(5) Sam Houston State was also watching from the sidelines this weekend. They travel to Northwestern State next weekend to take on the Demons. However, this could also be a lopsided game. The Demons lost this past weekend to Lamar, 31-23. Sam Houston State beat Lamar, 62-7.

James Madison isn’t the only team in the CAA. (7) Delaware sent a message to the rest of the FCS this weekend when they beat a streaking Rhode Island team this past weekend, 35-21. The CAA could have some major national championship contenders come playoff time.

(8) Kennesaw State was idle this weekend as well. They take on Robert Morris next weekend.

(9) Richmond bumps up a spot after Rhode Island lost to (7) Delaware.

The Keydets from (10) VMI came from behind to beat a good Wofford team over the weekend, 36-31. The Keydets’ 5-0 record is their best start since 1960. They could be a real threat in the playoffs.
