Fantasy Football Trends for Week 9 Include Devin Singletary and Kyler Murray

Any given Sunday in the NFL gives us a whole new set of fantasy football trends each week. We have organized some of the big trends here in order to help you answer some of the questions you may have about these trending fantasy football players for NFL Week 9.

Zack Moss and Jonathan Taylor Are Both Solid Fantasy Starts in Week 9

Upon Jonathan Taylor‘s return from injury, concerns arose about how the Indianapolis Colts would manage their running back situation, given Zack Moss’s strong performances in his absence. Although Zack Moss saw a season-low 39% of the snaps last week, there is no need to fret this week. While Moss and Taylor haven’t both scored in the same game over the past three matchups, the situation remains promising. Moss has found the end zone and exceeded 14 PPR fantasy points in two of the last three games. Similarly, Taylor has been consistent, delivering over 65 scrimmage yards and double-digit PPR fantasy points in all three of those games.

The Week 9 matchup couldn’t be more favorable for this dynamic duo, as they square off against the Panthers, who have allowed a league-leading 13 touchdowns to running backs. Only two games this season saw opposing running backs fail to score a touchdown, and in two of the last three games the Panthers have permitted multiple running backs to find the end zone while scoring over 11 PPR fantasy points.

Despite Zack Moss witnessing a decrease in snap counts last week, this matchup is simply too enticing to pass up. As previously mentioned, Moss still performed admirably in limited snap counts during his recent outing.

The return of Kyler Murray is highly anticipated, and while many might be hoping for his comeback in Week 9, you might want to manage those expectations. Kyler Murray will not be activated off the PUP list this week, and he will not play in Week 9. However, you can expect his return in Week 10 against the Falcons.

For those fortunate enough to have Kyler Murray still available on the fantasy football waiver wire, and if you’re in dire need of a quarterback, pick him up immediately. This is because Murray has proven himself as a reliable fantasy asset, having scored 15 or more fantasy points in all but one of his full games last season. The fantasy potential he brings to the table makes him a valuable addition if he’s available and you need a quarterback.

Dameon Pierce has been dealing with a knee injury and will miss Sunday’s game. Over the past two games, Devin Singletary has outscored Pierce in fantasy football scoring formats that support any points to receptions. While it may not be a case of Singletary fully replacing Pierce, it’s more likely that the team will employ a Running Back By Committee (RBBC) approach, with Singletary emerging as the more fantasy-relevant running back due to him consistently out-scoring Pierce over the past two weeks.

Looking ahead to this week’s matchup, it doesn’t bode well for Devin Singletary. The Buccaneers have been effective in limiting running backs, not allowing any to accumulate over 90 scrimmage yards in three of their last four games. Additionally, they’ve yielded a league-low total of just one touchdown to running backs this season, with that touchdown occurring in Week 1.

Given the challenging matchup, Devin Singletary fantasy football owners may want to keep him on the bench. It’s worth noting that Houston’s matchups are expected to become more favorable after Week 9, making the Texans’ RBs potential assets to start for future weeks.
