With one week of the season in our rear-view mirror, let us set our sights on setting the best possible lineup for Week 2. If you have a Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes II or Tom Brady, you know what to do. If you don’t and have to make a tough choice, this is the place to be for those tough fantasy football start or sit decisions in single QB leagues.
Welcome to our weekly fantasy football QB start or sit, and as an added bonus since it was such a hit last week, there is a name suggestion with each player as well. Good luck this week!
Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 2 QBs
Start: Ryan Tannehill at Seahawks
Team Name: Tannesauraus Rex
Last week, Ryan Tannehill finished as the QB24, putting up only 15.2 fantasy points as the Titans got blown out by the Cardinals. This week, he gets the Seahawks on the road in a game that is projected to be high-scoring, with the third-highest total of the week at 53.5. Over the last year and a half, Tannehill has been uber-efficient and despite the offseason addition of Julio Jones, the team is transitioning to new offensive coordinator Todd Downing. Let’s chalk up last week to the team getting on the same page and the Cardinals D being underrated. This offense has a lot of firepower and Tannehill offers a high floor and ceiling if this game turns into a shootout.
Start: Matthew Stafford at Colts
Team Name: Staff Infection
Having escaped the football purgatory that is Detroit and now landing in a dream spot with the QB whisperer Sean McVay, and a bevy of targets, in addition to a stout D that means he won’t be playing the entire second half under duress, Matthew Stafford must be pinching himself. After putting up 24.3 fantasy points last week against the Bears, the Colts are on deck this week. While this is not an easy matchup, although they did give up 27.1 fantasy points to Russell Wilson last week, this is more a statement that Stafford is a legit week in week out QB1.

Sit: Matt Ryan at Buccaneers
Team Name: Saving Private Ryan
Last week, in his first game of the post-Julio Jones era, Matt Ryan mustered up only 7.4 fantasy points, going 21-of-35 for 164 yards and lost a fumble in a matchup with the Eagles. This week, the matchup is much tougher on the road in Tampa Bay and Ryan is best left on benches. Over the offseason in a Dynasty Buy Low Sell High article, Ryan was a recommended sell and his inconsistency is a big reason why over the last two seasons he has failed to finish as a QB1 in exactly half of his games. Leave him on the bench this week.
Sit: Jameis Winston at Panthers
Team Name: You Winston You Lose Some
Last week, Lasik poster boy Jameis Winston put up 29.6 fantasy points in a highly efficient matter, on 14-of-20 passing for 148 yards and five TDs and he also added 37 yards on the ground against the Packers. The Carolina Panthers were able to apply a great deal of pressure on the Jets in their opener, sacking Zack Wilson six times and intercepting him once. While it may be tempting to roll him out again this week based upon last week, if you have a better option, you are better off leaving Winston on the bench.
