Of all the positions affected by the bye weeks in Week 7, quarterback is affected the most. Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Trevor Lawrence and I suppose Justin Herbert are all off, leading to you needing a replacement. Even though it’s just a one-week fill-in, don’t make the wrong decision and doom your week. To help you, I have my Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em below.
Now, let’s establish some boundaries here. I am not here to say Drake Maye is a “start” this week. We’ll leave that groundbreaking analysis to the AI slop creators. Instead, I will be discussing those who are worthy of a conversation and who may be on the fringe of being a QB1 this week.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcome!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 7 QBs
Start: Aaron Rodgers Fantasy Outlook vs Saints (in Paris)
The past month has been terrific for Aaron Rodgers fantasy owners, and a strong matchup has him as our featured “start” this week.
Over the past four weeks, Rodgers ranks as QB4 while averaging over 20 fantasy points per game. This week, he faces a weak New Orleans Saints defense that has allowed the most red zone trips per game (4.7) and the sixth-most yards per play (5.8). Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense will be able to move the ball in this game, and Rodgers’ accuracy in the red zone is deadly. He also has strong red zone receiving threats to help him continue his multi-touchdown streak.
Start: CJ Stroud Fantasy Outlook vs Giants
Believe it or not, CJ Stroud ranks as QB5 this season while also passing for the second-most yards in the league (1,714). Stroud is a must-own player until the Houston defense proves it can stop someone. Right now, the Texans’ offense is forced to outscore opponents, and that has meant great things for Stroud’s fantasy owners.
Stroud has also thrown nine touchdowns to just one interception. This week, he faces a New York Giants team that has bad vibes around it right now. On top of the vibes, the Giants’ defense is allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to QBs. That seems like a lot, but this gets made even worse when you realize the Giants have played Tyler Shough, Jayden Daniels, Jacoby Brissett and Cam Ward over the past four weeks. None of those players are playing anywhere near the level of Stroud, making him a triumphant “start” in our Week 7 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
Sit: Tyler Shough Fantasy Outlook vs Steelers (in Paris)
Tyler Shough broke his hand a couple of weeks ago. While it isn’t his throwing hand, his stats have really taken a nosedive. Over the first four weeks, Shough was averaging 300.8 yards and a 67.2% completion rate per game. Over the past two weeks, Shough has averaged 120 passing yards and a 58.2% completion rate. If you’re a Tyler Shough owner, thank the fantasy Gods for his 32 yards and a touchdown on the ground last week.
This week, he travels to Paris, which has its own obstacles. He also faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs and only 6.6 yards per pass attempt. Sit Tyler Shough, or potentially trade him to a QB-needy team.
Sit: Sam Darnold Fantasy Outlook vs Chiefs
After shutting many doubters up by winning a Super Bowl last season, Sam Darnold has done little to keep them quiet this year. Darnold has more multi-interception games (3) than ones with multiple touchdowns (2). He’s also completed just 60.4% of his passes this season, and his play recently has clearly held Seattle back.
This week, he faces a tough Kansas City Chiefs defense that has allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to QBs. They allow the fourth-fewest yards per pass attempt (6.1). Given the projected point total of just 42.5 in this matchup, Darnold appears to have little upside. He is not a bye week fill-in, and he is still a sit in 2QB leagues.
