It has already been a difficult year for fantasy football tight ends. Now, fantasy owners will face four teams on bye in NFL Week 5: the Chargers, Titans, Eagles and Lions. There are a couple of typical starters at tight end who will be out, creating some difficult fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em decisions this week.
The TEs have been hit or miss in the early part of the NFL season. That could be the difference between winning and losing your matchups each week. That is where we at FlurrySports are here to help. Below are our picks for who you should start and sit this week at TE.

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 5 TEs
Start: Tucker Kraft Fantasy Outlook vs Los Angeles Rams
The tight end for the Green Bay Packers is a start this week for fantasy football. Tucker Kraft will be a useful TE this week with Christian Watson out. Kraft went for 16.3 fantasy points with the return of Jordan Love against the Minnesota Vikings last week.
On the flip side of the ball is the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams have given up the seventh-most fantasy points to TEs. The Rams are still injured to heck and back on the defense, so who do they have to cover Kraft? Put Kraft in your lineups for this week.
Start: Tyler Conklin Fantasy Outlook vs Minnesota Vikings
After the New York Jets’ abysmal game last week, you might not want to start anyone on that offense. However, Tyler Conklin should be a start still. He didn’t have a great game last week, but he has Aaron Rodgers as his QB against a team Rodgers knows pretty well. Rodgers should cut through the Minnesota defense like in old times.
The Vikings defense has also given up the fifth-most fantasy points to TEs. Last week, Tucker Kraft was able to gash Minnesota for 16.3 points, as stated above. Through four games this season, the Vikings have given up 13.5 points to TEs. Tyler Conklin should be a sneaky good fantasy play this week against the Vikings.

Sit: David Njoku Fantasy Outlook vs Washington Commanders
David Njoku will not make the good side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article this week. Njoku has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury and the Browns are hopeful that he is back this week. Njoku probably will not be at 100% if he does return. Combine that with Deshaun Watson not playing well at QB this season in any of their games. Njoku had 8.4 fantasy points in his only start this season.
The Cleveland Browns will play against the Washington Commanders this week. The Commanders have clamped down on TEs so far this year. Frankie Luvu, Dante Fowler Jr. and Bobby Wagner have stopped the TE spot to the tune of 19.6 fantasy points. Njoku, if he comes back this week, should be left on your bench.
Sit: Pat Freiermuth Fantasy Outlook vs Dallas Cowboys
The Pittsburgh Steelers TE had a great week against the Indianapolis Colts last week. This week, he has a tougher matchup. Last Sunday, Pat Freiermuth went off to the tune of 16.7 points. That helped make him the fifth-best TE through four weeks of the season. Justin Fields has thrown the ball better the more the season has gone on.
On the defensive side of the ball is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have given up the eighth-fewest points to TEs this season (6 points per game). Freiermuth needs to be relegated to the bench this week.
