The tight end position for fantasy football is made worse in Week 13 due to six teams on bye. This includes top options like TJ Hockenson. In order to help you make tough decisions at TE, we will go over a couple of Week 13 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em candidates below.
Obviously, there are some players who are must-start every single week due to where you drafted them, such as George Kittle and Travis Kelce. However, after the top couple of tiers at the tight end position, you may be playing the matchup more than the player himself. To help you through these tough decisions, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings and read on for our Week 13 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em analysis at TE.

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 13 TEs
Start: Taysom Hill Fantasy Outlook vs Lions
The best part about Taysom Hill is that he’s not good enough to play a specific position, but he’s athletic and smart enough to fill in where he is needed. Well, he’s needed in a few areas this week, landing him in the top second of our Week 13 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
The New Orleans Saints were already without Michael Thomas. Now, they may also be missing Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed from their receiving corps. Obviously, this could and should mean more snaps at receiver for Taysom Hill. However, the other scenario is that the Saints cannot pass the ball at all. In this case, utilizing Hill at quarterback to be a rushing threat would be the best course of action. Regardless, Hill is able to be started at TE in fantasy football for some reason, so let’s take advantage of this decision.
Start: Pat Freiermuth Fantasy Outlook vs Cardinals
The Pittsburgh Steelers got rid of offensive coordinator Matt Canada and immediately realized Pat Freiermuth is wide-ass open in the middle of the field. In fact, he had a career day, finishing the game with nine receptions for 120 yards. This was Pittsburgh’s first sign of life on offense this season, so don’t look for them to complicate things from here.
This week, Freiermuth and the Steelers face the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona just surrendered five receptions and two touchdowns to Tyler Higbee. The Cardinals are going to surrender points, so we should expect a fair number of trips to the red zone for Pittsburgh, which gives Pat Freiermuth fantasy owners hope for a touchdown and a great fantasy day.

Sit: Kyle Pitts Fantasy Outlook at Jets
I would love for one of the “Kyle Pitts truthers” to tell me one thing he does well. Well, aside from being overdrafted in both fantasy and reality. This week, he faces a matchup with the New York Jets that is enough for you to sit him despite all of the teams on bye.
To call Pitts a tight end would be ignorant. He has lined up as an in-line tight end on 27% of his snaps this season. However, Kyle Pitts has lined up out wide on 26% of the snaps and in the slot on 45%. Since he is unable to get separation by himself consistently, the Falcons use him in the slot to help him out. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
I say all of this to say that Kyle Pitts is a wide receiver and the Jets will guard him like one. The Jets surrender the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Pitts is an obvious “sit” in the Week 13 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
Sit: Hunter Henry Fantasy Outlook vs Chargers
This declaration of a “sit” is less strong than the Kyle Pitts section, I must say. However, Henry has shown he cannot be trusted. He played the most tight end snaps for the Patriots last week, at 46. Pharaoh Brown played 37 while Mike Gesicki played 18. Yet, Henry didn’t see a single target. He has been held under 30 yards in six of his past seven games as well. Given his production and the Patriots’ quarterback situation, there are better options to be your bye week fill-in.
Check my fantasy football rankings, since you may have a better option, such as the two “starts” in this Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article.
