Davidson Wildcats Preview

After starting the year 1-2, Davidson rattled off a 15-game winning streak, highlighted by winning their first six A10 conference games. The run ultimately came to an end last Wednesday when the Wildcats stumbled at home in a two-point loss to VCU. Bob McKillop’s team rebounded over the weekend with a road win at La Salle to run their record to 17-3 on the season.

Perhaps it’s only fitting that Stephen Curry’s alma mater has one of the best shooting teams in the country. Davidson has always seemed to come up with big buckets when needed this season. The Wildcats boast a three-headed scoring machine in Hyungjung Lee, Foster Hoyer and Luka Brajkovic. All three players have gone for north of 14 points per game this season and are shooting at least 39% from three-point range. As a team, Davidson is shooting a ridiculous 41% from beyond the arc.

Although Davidson has a 7-1 outright college basketball betting picks record in the A10 to date, nothing has come easy. Four of the Wildcats’ seven conference wins have been decided by four points or less.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies Preview

While St. Bonaventure has not played up to preseason expectations thus far, the Bonnies did have to deal with numerous virus postponements earlier in the year. The lack of continuity has led to SBU suffering all four of its losses by nine points or more. After dropping a game at George Mason last Wednesday, Mark Schmidt’s team managed to knock off St. Joseph’s over the weekend to get back on track.

The other major issue for St. Bonaventure basketball this season has been a lack of depth. The return of all five starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament team sparked great excitement before the season began. Unfortunately, the Bonnies have gotten next to no production out of their new bench pieces. The result is all five starters averaging north of 30 minutes per game. Contrast this to a Davidson basketball team that has eight players who average over 14 minutes per contest.

While the Bonnies’ lack of depth has hurt them in terms of overall college basketball betting results, the starting five is still extremely impressive. St. Bonaventure deploys a four-guard lineup with Jaren Holmes, Jalen Adaway and Kyle Lofton leading the charge offensively.

Davidson vs St. Bonaventure College Basketball Betting Trends

  • Wildcats are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games against teams with a winning record at home.
  • Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a college basketball betting underdog.
  • Bonnies are just 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following an outright win.
  • Bonnies are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games when playing as a college basketball betting favorite.
  • Favorites are 7-2 ATS in the last nine Davidson vs St Bonaventure head-to-head meetings.

Davidson vs St. Bonaventure Prediction | College Basketball Betting Picks

After the college basketball betting over/under for this game opened at 141.5, it has since plummeted anywhere from five to six full points across the market. While consensus lines list the new total at 136.5, bettors can also find 135.5 available. There’s an argument to be made that the market has gotten a bit carried away with this total adjustment.

Although both Davidson and St. Bonaventure average fewer than 70 possessions per game, each side has plenty of offensive playmakers. The pristine shooting of both teams helps them to be very efficient with those trips down the floor, evidenced by scoring averages north of 70 on the season. Thus, buying back on the line move seems worthwhile at this juncture.

Davidson vs St. Bonaventure Prediction: Over 135.5 (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
