The Jacksonville Jaguars had another abysmal season in 2021. Shockingly, Urban Meyer was not the savior the team was hoping for. Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawernce was thrown to the wolves and many people are already calling him a bust. The Jaguars lost enough that they will once again have the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. By being proactive in the 2022 NFL offseason, the Jags can get themselves headed on the right path.

3 Things for Jacksonville Jaguars to Address in the 2022 NFL Offseason

1. Find a Competent Head Coach

The Jacksonville Jaguars hired Urban Meyer thinking that he would help get them trending in the right direction. Well, he didn’t even last a full season and really only made things worse. Now, the Jags are looking for a new head coach for the second straight NFL offseason.

Jacksonville is already behind the eight-ball on this front as some coaches have stated they do not want to work with GM Trent Baalke. Even former Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich took himself out of consideration to be the team’s next coach. On the bright side, whoever does take the job will get to be a part of building around a generational QB talent in Trevor Lawrence.

2. Nail the 2022 NFL Draft Class

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the first overall pick in the NFL Draft for the second consecutive year. They took Trevor Lawrence with the top pick last year, a clear and obvious choice. Now, they need to get him some help or bolster what was one of the worst defenses in football this past season. Of course, there is a third option for the Jaguars and that is to trade away the first overall pick and acquire more draft capital to try and address more needs. Any of the three options will only help if the Jags scout well and make the right selections during the draft.

3. Bubble Wrap Their Running Backs

Before the start of the 2021 regular season, rookie first-round pick Travis Etienne suffered a lisfranc injury and was out for the season. Fellow Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson took over had another great season as the starter. Unfortunately, it was cut short as Robinson tore his Achilles in Week 16 and missed the rest of the season.

While one was a first-round pick and the other an undrafted free agent, the Jaguars certainly have two solid young RBs in Etienne and Robinson. As they continue to build around a young quarterback, both backs will be vital complements to Lawrence. However, to do so, they need to be able to stay healthy. The Jags need to heal them both up during the 2022 NFL offseason and then protect them at all costs. A pair of talented backs will help out an offense that remains void of elite playmakers in the passing game.
