Wide receiver Davante Adams being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason was a tough pill to swallow for Green Bay Packers fans. It led to the spreading of many false rumors, many of which have not been corrected. Still, many Packer fans are confused or angry at the situation.

In a press conference at Raiders minicamp, Davante Adams spoke to the media about his relationship with Aaron Rodgers and the decision-making process regarding the entire situation. In his quote, Adams shed some light on the future of Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

Davante Adams Sheds Light on Future of Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love

Cassie Soto of the Las Vegas Review-Journal asked Adams if he had spoken with Rodgers since leaving Green Bay and what that goodbye was like. Adams gave a thoughtful answer.

Adams and Rodgers needed to be on the same page about both of their futures during this entire process. Davante Adams has said he wants to be a Hall of Fame wide receiver. That’s much easier to do with someone like Aaron Rodgers throwing you the ball.

While many outlets have continued to misrepresent the Aaron Rodgers contract, we said from the beginning it’s a year-by-year contract. It’s not a four-year deal. The contract is essentially one year with the expressed opportunity for a second as essentially the same cap hit. So, when Adams talks about Rodgers possibly not being in Green Bay in a year or two, this is coming from the man himself. It’s also reflected in the contract he signed.

The truth of the matter is that this could be Aaron Rodgers’ final season. If it’s not, then 2023 will likely be the farewell tour.

What Does This Mean For Jordan Love?

This week, Andrew Brandt, former Packers Vice President of Player Finance, spoke on the Pat McAfee Show about how he and the organization handled the Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers transition. He spoke about how the organization felt good about the future. In practice, everyone saw how Rodgers was “a guy.” Rodgers was lighting up the practice field, to the point where Donald Driver and Greg Jennings came to front office personnel raving about him.

As for Jordan Love, we have seen the practice clips. We have seen him in an NFL game. Now, we have heard Davante Adams sacrifice one or two seasons with Rodgers just so he wouldn’t be stuck in Green Bay without Rodgers throwing to him. What does this mean? Well, I’ll leave that for you to decide.
