One of the more intriguing prospects in this year’s NFL Draft class is cornerback Caleb Farley. He was an absolute star as a high school quarterback out of North Carolina. Farley was slated to play at wide receiver before a knee injury caused Virginia Tech to move him to the defensive side of the ball. As they say, the rest is history. From the Fuller brothers to linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to tight end Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech quietly produces some very solid NFL talent. Could Farley be the next Hokie success story?
Here’s the Caleb Farley NFL Draft profile, along with his stats, highlights and current projections.
Caleb Farley
Position: Cornerback
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 207 lbs
Age: 22
College: Virginia Tech Hokies
Coverage Snaps: 396
Rec/Tgt: 18/50
Completion Rate: 40%
Yards Allowed: 257
TD/INT: 1/4
Passer Rating: 26.8
Farley’s good size and speed help him match up with almost any wide receiver, physically. He is able to use his strength to jam receivers and knock them off of their routes. Farley uses his hands well to fight for jump balls and seems to always be in a position to make a play on the ball. He has shown a very good ability to track deep balls downfield, and has played in an ACC conference that while top heavy, has pitted him against solid quarterback talent. Farley came into college as a quarterback and shows great natural talent for a player who has only played corner for a few years.
The biggest problem with Farley is we haven’t been able to see him for over a year. He opted out for the 2020 season due to COVID and had a back ailment prohibit him from participating at Virginia Tech’s pro day. He needs to go to a team that has time to develop him, as he has only played the position for a few years. His fundamentals and the technical aspects of his game need work at the next level. When not in man coverage, he oftentimes seems to react to the game more than use his instincts to make plays.

Caleb Farley is currently projected to be drafted by the New York Jets with the 34th pick.
