Butler comes into this 2022 season after underperforming last year. They brought in two freshmen and four transfers, including a big transfer in Manny Bates from North Carolina State. By most preseason predictions of the Big East, Butler is expected to finish ninth, which would be yet another disappointing year. In their “warm up” game against New Orleans, Manny Bates dropped 25 and 11 boards, and every starter hit double-digits which could be a good sign. Penn State, on the other hand, was also a disappointing team, but they did not have high expectations.
