Best NBA Betting Player Props for Tonight, 4/1

All NBA betting player props odds are taken from BetOnline Sportsbook

Killian Hayes Over 5.5 Assists (-122)

It turns out that Killian Hayes may actually have what it takes to be a quality NBA point guard after all. Cue all of those who rushed to bury him way too soon. With veteran teammate Cory Joseph having been ruled out for tonight’s game, Hayes could garner even more playing time than he has recently. Certainly, no one can argue with the statistical production he has been supplying of late.

In addition to scoring in double figures in five of the last six games, Hayes also has totaled four rebounds or more in all but one game over that same stretch. Oddly enough, it has been his assist totals that have been lagging behind. The 20-year-old has only topped today’s NBA player props total of 5.5 helpers once in the last six games. He has also failed to top more than three assists in any of the last three outings.

Fortunately, the Pistons face a depleted Oklahoma City Thunder team this evening. Much like OKC’s depth chart and record, their defensive efficiency ranking has plummeted down the stretch of the NBA betting regular season. While it is the second game of a back-to-back for Detroit, Hayes should be ready to log significant minutes after seeing a modest total of 26 yesterday. With Joseph out, this will only lead to Hayes seeing more playing time with the top unit. He should have a great opportunity to top the NBA picks assist total tonight.

Jalen Green Under 3.5 Assists (-112)

The upside that Jalen Green possesses as a scorer was well-documented even before he was drafted second overall by the Houston Rockets. Sure enough, he has delivered on that promise in his rookie season. Coming into Friday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings, Green is averaging 16.8 points per game.

Unfortunately for Rockets fans, the pre-draft concerns that Green does not contribute regularly in other phases of the game have also been justified in his maiden NBA campaign. As far as assists, Green has only supplied 2.6 on a per-game basis this season. Note that the assists average comes up nearly one full tally shy of tonight’s NBA player props total of 3.5. Thus, the 20-year-old would need to exceed his usual production by 1.4 helpers in order for over NBA picks to cash.

Like the Rockets themselves, the Kings are a favorable matchup for opposing offenses thanks to having the fourth-worst defensive efficiency in the NBA. However, this does not necessarily mean that Green will see a significant uptick in assists. In fact, the two teams just played one another on Wednesday. Green erupted for 32 points in the game but had only two assists.

Will Barton Over 3.5 Assists (-132)

As Nikola Jokic continues to drag the Denver Nuggets to what would be an improbable division title, the recent contributions of Will Barton also deserve some recognition. The veteran wing has been stuffing the stat sheet to the brim. Along with scoring 17+ points in each of the last four games, Barton has also supplied five or more assists in three of those games. The one time in which he failed to hit that mark, he still finished with three dimes.

Given that the NBA player props total for tonight’s game sits at 3.5 assists, it’s clear that Barton is trending to the over of late. Furthermore, he has averaged 3.9 helpers per game on the season overall. Thus, the 31-year-old would need to fall short of his typical production by nearly one full assist for this NBA props offering to stay under.

The impact of the Nuggets facing the Minnesota Timberwolves as far as this prop is concerned could be twofold. First of all, the Wolves are merely an average defensive team. Second, they also are tied for one of the fastest tempos in the league. More possessions for both sides would theoretically lead to more opportunities for Barton to generate assists.
