This week was not too kind to AAC basketball. With Memphis’ skid and no other marquee wins this week, Houston is now the only ranked team in the conference. However, Memphis is still receiving some votes in both the college basketball rankings. If teams like Cincinnati and Wichita State can string together some more wins this week, they could possibly see themselves vault up into the discussion as well. The Memphis Tigers started out the season ranked 12th in the NCAA. They were eventually able to climb all the way to ninth before a 19-point loss to Iowa State. Memphis then compounded their slide by losing on the road to a 2-5 Georgia team. Coming into a road matchup against Ole Miss, Memphis basketball needed a bounce-back win. The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes may not be the top dog of AAC basketball historically, but that doesn’t mean they have to lay down to the competition this year. Although they have yet to play a ranked opponent this season, they’ve played and beat some tough unranked teams, specifically an Oregon State team that made the Elite Eight last season.
