Last Match USA beat El Salvador 2-0 in their last match. However, there is a lot more to the match than just that. The US had a hard time getting Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore involved, since El Salvador clogged the midfield. The United States kicks off the knockout portion of the Gold Cup against a familiar El Salvador side. These two met in the Gold Cup quarterfinals in 2013, and the US convincingly won 5-1. However, Bruce Arena and his staff are not taking the Central American team lightly. The United States finished atop Group B on goal differential. That was their objective and they succeeded at it, so you could say job well done, right? Not exactly.
