The postseason magic at Citizens Bank Park is still very much alive, as the Philadelphia Phillies dismantled the Houston Astros, 7-0, in Game 3. With the Phillies now holding a 2-1 series lead and the next two games in Philadelphia, Philadelphia has a chance to put Houston in a massive hole with a win in Astros vs Phillies Game 4. Can the Phillies put the Astros’ backs against the wall, or does Houston have some more fight left in them?

This MLB betting preview for the World Series Astros vs Phillies Game 4 includes game info, starting pitchers, betting odds, trends and a prediction for tonight’s postseason matchup.

    Houston Astros Preview

The Houston bats came alive in Game 2 but there were plenty of signs pointing to them being unreliable. In Game 3 that’s exactly what happened. The Astros could only collect five total hits and were shutout. As has been the problem the entire postseason, the top of the order was anything but productive. The top five players in the lineup went a combined 1-18. Without the deep ball, that is simply not enough production to win a World Series game.

Quite simply the pitching of the Houston Astros let them down. Lance McCullers Jr. had major issues with command on Tuesday night and the Phillies certainly capitalized. All seven of the Phillies’ runs came off of the long ball. While the bullpen did well to hold the Phillies in check, there is simply no path to victory for Houston if they don’t have complete control of their command against this powerful lineup.

    Philadelphia Phillies Preview

If this postseason has taught us anything, it’s that the long ball is king come October. For as bad as they have been over the season, they always had the power threat in their lineup that could do damage the moment a pitch was left over the plate. That was fully on display in Game 3 as five different players hit a home run for Philadelphia. Although they only had seven hits, seven hits is plenty when well over half of them go over the fence.

Ranger Suarez was the “middle child” of this Phillies rotation this year. Although he was certainly productive, much more attention and praise has been given to Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler. With the series in the balance, Ranger Suarez produced one of the best postseason performances this year. Suarez gave up just three hits over five innings and more importantly, give the bullpen the ball with a 7-0 lead. With Aaron Nola back on the hill for Game 4, Philadelphia is one more good performance away from a 3-1 series lead.
