Arizona vs Houston Prediction | March Madness Sweet 16 Picks

This South Region matchup is easily the most intriguing on the entire Sweet 16 schedule. Both Arizona and Houston have been viewed as two of the best teams in the country all season long as far as advanced stats and power ratings of influence are concerned. Both programs won their respective conference regular-season and tournament championships. How the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee determined that Houston was only a 5-seed is one of life’s great mysteries.

Based on the seed lines, one could easily argue that laying only 1.5 points with Arizona is easily the play. As the unofficial “most aesthetically pleasing team” in college basketball, the Wildcats are not surprisingly drawing the majority of public spread bets for this game. Arizona got all it could handle from TCU in the Second Round of the tournament last weekend. Bennedict Mathurin came up huge down the stretch and in overtime to help the 1-seed avoid an early exit.

Unfortunately for Arizona, the Houston team that they will match up with in the Sweet 16 has more than enough bodies to match up. The backcourt duo of Marcus Sasser and Kyler Edwards leads the team in scoring while bigs Josh Carlton and Fabian White have the size and athleticism to match up with the loaded Arizona frontcourt.

Furthermore, Kelvin Sampson’s team also has the experience of last year’s Final Four run to lean on. Add in their under-seeded status and the chip on the Cougars’ shoulders could very well prove too large for Arizona to overcome.

Our college basketball betting Arizona vs Houston prediction tonight will be Houston +1.5 at BetUS

For what it’s worth, the ESPN Matchup Predictor gives Houston a 60.9% chance to win.
