ACC Basketball was somewhat of a disappointment this season. Throughout the year, Duke was the only ACC basketball team that was consistently ranked in the AP Top 25. Wake Forest, Miami, Notre Dame and North Carolina were all teams who were either low in the college basketball rankings or were right on the cusp of it. Virginia, Louisville and Florida State were teams who severely underperformed this year. In fact, for Virginia, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Needing an ACC tournament to make the NCAA tournament, can they be seen as dangerous? The following contains the ACC Tournament bracket and schedule, as well as a preview of what we can expect to see.

Virginia Tech advances to NCAA Tournament
Georgia Tech took home the crown last year, which differs from the usual North Carolina, Duke, or Virginia. That should not be the case this year. As mentioned before, Duke has been the only team that has been consistently ranked. The Blue Devils feature a very complete team with star freshman Paolo Banchero leading the charge. Mark Williams, Trevor Keels, Wendell Moore and AJ Griffin all help to contribute to Coach K’s final season. The Blue Devils are ninth in the country in scoring at just over 80 a game. With five players that average in double figures, Duke is the team to beat in the ACC.
North Carolina recently upset Duke in Coach K’s last game at Cameron Indoor. This was the best game that the Tar Heels played all season. With likely the ACC player of the year in Armando Bacot, partnered with Caleb Love and Brady Manek, the Heels have the talent to beat anyone in the country. North Carolina excels at rebounding the basketball. They are sixth in the country with 29.2 defensive rebounds per game. The Tar Heels are 0-3 on neutral courts this year, though.
Finally, another team to keep an eye on is Virginia. The Cavaliers have clawed their way to get back into the bubble. It seems unlikely that Virginia gets an at-large for the NCAA Tournament, so they need a tournament championship. Senior Jayden Gardner is the team’s leading scorer with just under 16 a game. The Cavaliers still have their patented Tony Bennett defense, ranking ninth in the country in points given up per game, 60.4. This team may not have typical Virginia talent, but they need to win to get in. With a senior-laden team and Bennett at the helm, this is a dangerous team.
