Aaron Jones not only had a great season on the field, but he also had fantastic success on the virtual gridiron as well in 2020. Jones posted another season as a top-5 fantasy football RB, running for just over 1,100 rushing yards, caught over 350 receiving yards and totaled 11 touchdowns. It doesn’t get much more consistent than Jones, who was held to single-digit fantasy points just once in 14 games.
After another incredible season that again ended in heartbreak for Green Bay, Aaron Jones is coming into the 2021 season more driven than ever. Unfortunately, the reason is more so because of a family tragedy. Aaron Jones’ father Alvin passed away during the offseason after a battle with COVID-19. With the strong bond that Jones and his father had, it’s no question that he will be running like a man possessed.
Let’s discuss Aaron Jones’ fantasy football outlook for 2021, including his stats from 2020 and giving our buy or sell decision based on his current average draft position (ADP).

Aaron Jones 2021 Outlook
When it comes to the role held in the offense, very little will be changing for Jones. If anything, his role will be expanding slightly. With the departure of Jamaal Williams, the Packers not only lost their best blocking back, but also their best receiving back. With AJ Dillon having little if any experience in either role, the onus will be falling on Jones. Expect Jones to see more action in the passing game, as he’ll need to fill the hole Williams has left behind.
Durability has not been an issue for Jones, as he has only missed two games over the past two seasons. Like every running back, he’ll get banged up, but he’s been nothing but reliable the past two years. It will be interesting if his durability will continue to hold up with his expanded and changing role in the offense this season.
Consistency-wise, Jones has been solid as well, which is shown by his ability to be a “starter” (top-24 RB) over 85% of the time. He’s also shown his ability to carry a fantasy team, as he hit “boom” status (top-6 RB) over 20% of games he took the field. Unfortunately for Jones and the Packers, they do have the 10th-toughest schedule when it comes to fantasy football running backs, based off of the 2020 season. However, with Jones’ expanding role and durability, this shouldn’t cause much concern for fantasy owners.
Aaron Jones Fantasy Football ADP | Buy or Sell?
The ADP of Aaron Jones was taken from Fantasy Football Calculator on July 1st and sees Jones taken with the 12th pick in fantasy drafts. At this ADP, Jones may be the steal of the draft in the first two rounds. With or without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers are going to rely heavily on Aaron Jones if they want any kind of success. Add in one of the best offensive lines in the league, and a Matt LaFleur run-heavy offense, and Jones is primed for another fantastic season for fantasy football.
