Philadelphia Phillies Preview
Although everyone associated with the Philadelphia Phillies organization would tell you they were disappointed not to go up 2-0 in the series, the fact is they did just what they were supposed to. By taking Game 1 from the Braves, the Phillies secured home-field advantage for the rest of the series. The series now becomes a best-of-five which helps the Phillies as well.
With Aaron Nola on the hill, the pitching should perform just fine in Game 3. The only question is on the offensive side of the ball. The Phillies have averaged 6.5 runs per game in Game 1’s and one run per game in Game 2’s. What will we see from Philadelphia in Game 3?
Atlanta Braves Preview
The pressure was all on the Atlanta Braves in Game 2 after dropping the first game of the series. Atlanta delivered in a 3-0 victory. Once again Matt Olson and Travis D’Arnaud carried the offense as they combined for two of the four hits and two of the three RBI’s produced by Atlanta’s offense. It’s nice to be in a tied series after dropping the first game, but they need other guys to step up.
Pitching wise the Braves were as solid as ever in Game 2. Kyle Wright pitched as well as ever over six innings, while the bullpen only gave up a single hit over the last three innings. According to manager Brian Snitker, the Game 3 starter will be Charlie Morton. The Braves should feel confident in his ability to shut the Phillies down early, especially with all his experience.
