Dallas Stars: To have a chance in this series, the Stars must figure out how to consistently beat Jacob Markstrom. Their average 30 shots on goal is not going to cut it against the Vezina Trophy finalist who anchors a defense allowing the third least goals in the league. The one thing Dallas does excel at is staying out of the box. They average just 6.7 penalty minutes per game, the lowest in the NHL. These games will be close, and close games are often won because of bad or excessive penalties. There is no room for error against a Flames team that is top-5 in every major stat category.
Calgary Flames: The Flames average a full goal more than they allow. Statistically, they pummel the Stars in all three phases of the game. And great is what the Calgary Flames have been all season. There should be some good hockey games played in this series. It will not be heavily one-sided and the goalies are likely to put on a show.
