Super Wild Card Weekend was mostly super boring. However, a San Francisco 49ers road victory against the Dallas Cowboys was one of the more exciting games on the NFL Playoff schedule. San Francisco dominated the majority of the game, and they ended up escaping with a win. However, the headlines weren’t all positive. There were many 49ers injuries in the game, including a Jimmy Garoppolo injury.
Jimmy Garoppolo Injury Update
The term “game manager” has been used as an insult to NFL quarterbacks over the past several years. However, when the 49ers are at their absolute best, that is exactly what Garoppolo is. In the game against the Cowboys, there certainly were some plays that the 49ers passer would like to have back. Now, after hearing the Jimmy Garoppolo injury update, it does explain why he could have missed some of these throws.
Coming into the game, we knew Garoppolo was playing through a thumb injury. However, the Jimmy Garoppolo injury update is actually related to his throwing shoulder.
It turns out Jimmy G has a shoulder sprain. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan calls it only a “slight” sprain, confirming he should be able to practice on Wednesday.
49ers Injuries
The two 49ers injuries that headlined their Wild Card Weekend game were on the defensive side of the ball. Due to some “friendly fire,” Nick Bosa left the game with a concussion and did not return.
Inside linebacker Fred Warner suffered an ankle injury in the game. He was standing on the sideline looking like he could go back into the game if it was needed. Warner confirmed on Twitter today that he will be good to go for Saturday’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Bosa, however, remains more questionable.
