Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

Who knew that the best Josh Allen in the NFL played for the Jaguars? After last week’s stunning upset of the Buffalo Bills, the entire NFL betting world knows. Jacksonville’s Josh Allen, a former top-10 draft pick and team captain, wreaked complete and total havoc on his inferior kin by name from Buffalo. Allen came up with a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery all in the same game. He led the Jaguars’ defense to what was easily its best performance of the season to date. The offense never scored a touchdown, but Jacksonville still emerged with a 9-6 win as 15.5-point home underdogs. Oddly enough, the spread for Sunday’s road matchup against the Colts has moved against them slightly following the shocking win.

If the Jaguars are to have any chance of building a winning streak this week, they’ll need rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence to rise up. Running the ball on the Indianapolis defense front is next to impossible. Even if James Robinson is able to return from a heel injury that forced him to miss last week’s game, the Jaguars will need to make plays through the air. Wideouts Laviska Shenault and Jamal Agnew seem to have surpassed Marvin Jones Jr. as Lawrence’s preferred targets. Tight end Dan Arnold has also been making a weekly impact. All will likely be needed as one cannot reasonably expect Jacksonville’s defense to replicate their performance from a week ago.

Indianapolis Colts Preview

The Colts come into this AFC South Division showdown fresh off of a long week courtesy of playing last Thursday. Indianapolis man-handled the New York Jets in the trenches front he jump on their way to a comfortable 45-30 victory that was not as close as the final score might indicate. The Colts’ bread and butter offensively has been on the ground. Running back Jonathan Taylor is putting together an incredible season. He added to his totals with another 172 yards rushing and two touchdowns last week. After making numerous costly mistakes in an overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans two weeks ago, Carson Wentz bounced back nicely last Thursday. He had no trouble picking apart the Jets’ secondary for 272 yards and three scores.

Much like the Jaguars, Indianapolis will need Wentz to be on point again in this NFL betting contest. Although the Colts’ offensive line figures to have the advantage, the Jaguars have quietly been a top-10 adjusted defense against the run this season. If they are able to successfully contain Taylor, second-year wideout Michael Pittman Jr. will be counted on to be the Colts’ go-to playmaker. Generating a pass rush figures to be key for the Colts defensively to help alleviate pressure from what has proven to be a vulnerable secondary.
