We have some interesting storylines in the Week 1 game between the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers. Sam Darnold, new quarterback of the Panthers, was traded from the Jets this past offseason. On the other side, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson will be making his NFL debut, after being hyped up mighily this preseason. Which passer will prevail in this Jets vs Panthers NFL betting matchup?

The following Jets vs Panthers NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends and picks for the Week 1 matchup.

Jets vs Panthers Week 1 NFL Betting Preview

NFL Regular Season — Week 1 Game
New York Jets (0-0, 0-0 Away) vs. Carolina Panthers (0-0, 0-0 Home)
    Date: Sunday, September 12, 2021
    Time: 1:00 p.m. EST
Venue: Bank of America Stadium — Charlotte, NC
    Coverage: CBS

This Jets team looks very different, which is a good thing, to put it lightly. Robert Saleh was named the head coach, and he already seems to be the anti-Adam Gase. Again, it’s a good thing. Zach Wilson looks like he will be a stud at quarterback, and he has a bunch of weapons to throw to, after the Jets were active in free agency. Their biggest worry has to be the defense, especially after a couple of big injuries to the defensive line. While nobody considers the Jets as contenders this season, they are talented enough to play spoiler for some teams.

The Panthers traded for Sam Darnold this offseason, so we start Week 1 off with a #RevengeGame in Charlotte. He will have an extremely talented group of weapons surrounding him, so hopefully he finally progresses as a quarterback under new coaching. Defensively, the Panthers have a couple solid playmakers, but it is still expecting to be a unit that leaves something to be desired. However, if they surprise some people, this could become a sneaky wild card team.
