3 Most Likely Kenny Golladay Free Agent Destinations

If you drafted Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay early in fantasy football, I feel your pain. Golladay played five games all season. He was drafted that high in fantasy drafts because he is a problem for opposing defenses. You don’t get the nickname “Babytron” for nothing. With Golladay slated to become a free agent this year, where could he end up?

Here are the three most likely Kenny Golladay free agent destinations in 2021 NFL Free Agency.

    Kenny Golladay Free Agent Destinations

    Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts just make sense for Babytron. Not only do they have a glaring need of a true WR1, they also have had plenty of injury-prone receivers. While Golladay isn’t exactly the most durable player himself, he would ease some pressure off of the running game and will make life easier for whoever ends up being the Colts quarterback next year. TY Hilton and Michael Pittman Jr. are solid receivers, but neither of them are solid WR1, at this point in their careers. However, they could both be very good WR2 options.

With running back Jonathan Taylor coming back off of a hot streak to end the season and a solid tight end corps, this offense would be a complete unit with the addition of Golladay. It also helps that they are projected to have over $68.5 million in cap space available in 2021.

    New England Patriots

The Patriots had an uncharacteristic down year this season, and a lot of it had to do with the play of quarterback Cam Newton. Although he is an absolute shell of his former MVP self, he didn’t exactly have much talent helping him out either. N’Keal Harry has struggled to live up to the hype and Julian Edelman isn’t getting any younger. One Kenny Golladay would fix that problem pretty easily. Just like the Colts, New England has good supporting receivers, but they can only truly work behind a strong WR1 like Babytron.

Whoever the quarterback is next season also won’t need to be as accurate throwing to a 6’4″ target like Golladay. While the Patriots don’t have quite as much money as Indy, they have plenty to work with — over $58.5 million.

    Miami Dolphins

To the surprise of everybody but me (shameless self plug), the Miami Dolphins had a solid season. They finished 10-6 and just one spot out of the playoffs. Their defense was among the best and the offense was shaky but average. The problem with Miami, however, is their passing attack. Putting the problems of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa aside, the Dolphins received little production from their wideouts. While some of this was due to injury, outside of DeVante Parker, the Dolphins had nothing.

The wide receiver with the next-most receiving yards was Jakeem Grant, with 343. A young QB like Tua needs a big target, and Golladay can give him just that. Miami has two first-round picks, including the Texans’ third overall pick. They can fill other gaps with those picks and use some of their projected $25.5 million in cap space to bring Golladay to Miami.
