All we had known going into Tuesday was that the expected change-of-pace back for the Baltimore Ravens was going to have surgery to repair his meniscus, but it was thought to be just a partial tear, which usually takes only 6-8 weeks to recover from. Also, Dixon had already gotten suspended for the first four games of the season for a PED suspension, so the additional couple weeks did not seem to make much of a difference in the eyes of fans.

But once he went in for surgery, they found out the tear in his knee was far worse than originally expected. They performed a full repair on his meniscus, and he will miss the entire 2017 season. If you are wondering who will get the bulk of the carries in Dixon’s absence, that would be Terrance West. So, the Ravens will be looking to rely even more on West in 2017 as they look to achieve their goals of every team at this point, winning their division and trying to win a Super Bowl.
