Week 6 is here, and if you have survived this long in your NFL Survivor Pool, give yourself a pat on the back! This week, we have four fewer teams to choose from, so our options for our survivor picks are that much more limited. That means that we have to find the right team to stay alive this week. If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is that you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Lock of the Week | Best Pick for NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 6
Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans
Last week, I chose the winless Houston Texans as my “lock of the week” because I loved their matchup against the Tennessee Titans. That is my thinking again this week. I know the Colts have not played very good football this season, but a matchup against the Tennessee Titans is one that we have to exploit. The Colts come into the week as seven-point favorites over their division rival, which makes sense considering Tennessee’s struggles this season.
On the offensive side, the Indianapolis Colts will be able to run the ball in this game, as the Titans are giving up about 114 rushing yards per game. That ranks them in the middle of the pack, but with how strong Indy’s run game is, led by Jonathan Taylor, relying on him to get going in this game is going to be key for a Colts victory. Once that run game gets going, Daniel Jones will be able to settle in the pocket and find his receivers. Tyler Warren and Josh Downs create a great high-low combination that Jones will be able to exploit the middle of the field all game long.
For Tennessee’s offense, there is nothing that really scares you when matching up against them. Even though the Colts have struggled to stop the run this season, Tennessee has struggled to run the ball. With Tony Pollard dealing with a foot injury, the run game for the Titans does not get much easier. To me, this is also a game where Sauce Gardner, who has not played great football since coming to Indianapolis, can beat up on the rookie Carnell Tate a little bit. I think Gardner is in a position for a real get-back game here.
The Colts will be able to pick up a much-needed win this week against a division rival based on their star power alone.

Value Pick | Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
New England Patriots vs New York Jets
Given how they have played over the last couple of weeks, the New England Patriots have graduated from the “Value Pick” designation, but I would like to see one more dominant victory to be sure. This week, they have the chance to do just that, as they take on the New York Jets. New England comes into this game as 7.5-point favorites over its division rival.
Looking at the offensive side of the ball for the Patriots, Drake Maye has been awesome over the last two weeks, as he has totaled 643 passing yards and seven touchdowns. I am not sure if those numbers will be that high, but I expect Maye’s success to continue as the Jets rank 23rd in the NFL in passing yards given up per game. Romeo Doubs, Pop Douglas, Kyle Williams and Hunter Henry are not household names by any means, but they are all good enough to win the matchups in front of them, and with nothing that scares you in the Jets secondary, the matchups are very winnable.
For the Jets on offense, Breece Hall’s injury has really limited the success of the rushing attack. In his absence, Garrett Wilson and the passing offense have really taken a step up. I am not very confident in that being the case this week, as Christian Gonzalez will be back to take Wilson away. The Patriots sport one of the league’s more underrated defenses, and getting their All-Pro corner back will take it to the next level.
Look for the Patriots to get their third win in a row this week as the team looks to climb back to the top of the AFC.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With the quarterback situation still uncertain in Tampa Bay heading into Week 6, the Pittsburgh Steelers open the weekend as 2.5-point favorites. It sounds like Baker Mayfield won’t play until he is 100% healthy, as a dislocated finger can have pain that lingers on. If Mayfield is in fact out, that means that Jalon Daniels is the guy once again for Tampa. Over the past two weeks, Daniels has not been terrible, but he has not been incredible either. The Kansas alum is not doing much to inspire hope around this offense.
Now, whoever is starting between an inexperienced Daniels and an injured Mayfield will have to take on a Pittsburgh defense that has been fairly stingy this season. They rank 15th in passing yards given up per game and 19th in rushing yards given up per game. With TJ Watt having a bounce-back season, I am expecting a great game from this Steelers defense.
On the offensive side of the ball, Aaron Rodgers has looked like he is five years younger, as the future Hall of Famer has thrown for 826 yards and nine touchdowns over the past three games. That has been without Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson, on top of not fully utilizing DK Metcalf. Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington and Jaylen Warren have been very successful as non-receiver weapons in the offense. Metcalf has a chance to get back on track this week as Tampa ranks 27th in passing yards allowed per game this season. Rodgers’ continued success will come down to whether the offensive line can keep him up right, and with the inconsistent play on Tampa’s defensive line, it appears that it should be a fairly clean game for Rodgers this week.
