For the most part, the top-drafted running backs have shown up this season. It’s the next couple of tiers at the position who have shown inconsistency, injuries, or usage issues. We will be here every single week to help you make those tough decisions, and we will be live on Wednesday and Thursday nights on our YouTube to answer your questions as well!
Look, I am not here to tell you that Jahmyr Gibbs or Bijan Robinson are worthy of starts. Hell, we’ll leave that type of analysis to the AI authors of Yahoo or Sports Illustrated! Instead, we will discuss players who are on the fringe of your lineup. Players who may or may not be an RB2 or Flex for you, depending on the matchup.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcome!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 3 RBs
Start: Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Outlook at Browns
It was a short run for Jonathon Brooks’ fantasy relevance, but it is the Chuba Hubbard show in Carolina once again. As a result, he highlights our Week 3 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
Hubbard has been a solid dual-threat out of the backfield for the Panthers over the years, and he has been the PPR RB10 in both weeks this season. With a matchup against the Cleveland Browns, he has top-10 upside once again.
The Browns are giving up five yards per carry to opposing running backs this season, while Hubbard has averaged 4.6 yards on just 22 carries. His carries have been low due to Brooks playing over a quarter of the snaps while carrying the ball nine times. Without him, Hubbard’s touches will rise. He has averaged 1.32 fantasy points per touch this season. In a positive matchup, with an expected usage bump, Hubbard has the opportunity to play very well and keep his touchdown streak alive.
Start: Jaylen Warren Fantasy Outlook vs Bengals
It has been a quiet start to the season for Jaylen Warren, who has totaled 10 PPR fantasy points in both weeks. While the matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals initially looks like one to avoid, Warren could actually be in a solid spot in Week 3.
Rico Dowdle is currently in a boot. Unless they find a way to put some cleats on the bottom, I would imagine he misses this game despite being listed as “day-to-day.” Dowdle’s absence would mean a heavy workload for Warren against the Bengals, in a game where the Pittsburgh offense should be forced to stay aggressive.
Thanks in large part to bringing in Dexter Lawrence, the Bengals have been impossible to run against. Over two weeks, running backs have totaled 78 rushing yards against them. However, running backs have caught a league-high 15 passes against Cincinnati, and we know how good of a receiving threat Jaylen Warren can be. He has 10 targets already, leading to seven receptions for 61 yards.
While Warren could push for 15+ carries in this game, it’s his effectiveness in the receiving game that has me optimistic about his fantasy football Week 3.

Sit: Bucky Irving Fantasy Outlook vs Vikings
The entire Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense has been underwhelming through two weeks, and it’s unlikely that gets better in Week 3. The Minnesota Vikings have the ability to make you look silly, and I’m afraid that’s what happens with Bucky Irving.
Irving has actually run pretty well so far, despite the Tampa offense overall struggling to perform at a high level. He has 134 yards rushing, and his seven receptions in Week 1 did a lot of heavy lifting for his weekly ranking. In a matchup with the blitz-heavy Vikings, a receiving threat out of the backfield is a great way to mitigate the blitz, but Tampa has a better option for that.
Kenny Gainwell has been silent, with eight receiving yards this season. Whether it be pass protection or running routes, this is the matchup where Gainwell has to be utilized, and that will be to the detriment of Irving.
If Tampa does decide to run straight at Minnesota, the Vikings have allowed just 3.8 yards per carry this season. Irving also isn’t a big-play threat, so he likely needs a touchdown to save his day. No running back has scored against the Vikings this season, and I don’t anticipate many red zone trips to put him in scoring position.
Sit: Rhamondre Stevenson Fantasy Outlook at Jaguars
I’m a fan of Rhamondre Stevenson and seem to think he is a better football player than most. However, a fumble in Week 2, after his previous ball-security issues, is more than concerning. It is a big reason why he was limited to just six carries last week despite being effective with those carries. This week, he has a tough matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jags have faced two teams who want to run the ball early and often (Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos). Despite this, Jacksonville has allowed the third-fewest rushing yards by running backs (110). With TreVeyon Henderson back in the lineup, the Patriots also have another player to turn to if there is a fumble, and Henderson is also more of a spark in the receiving game.
Given the smaller workload and the tough opponent, you should sit Rhamondre Stevenson this week. Check out the FlurrySports Playbook for more data and analysis to help with those tough Start ’em, Sit ’em decisions!
