Tight ends can oftentimes be one of the toughest positions to forecast in fantasy football. However, after a big Week 1 from the position, there is plenty of value to be taken advantage of for Week 2. Fantasy Football Week 2 QB Streamers
Mike Gesicki, Bengals at HOU (1.5% owned)
Mike Gesicki broke out in Week 1 to a tune of 78 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. While Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins weren’t as involved as normally, that is not a knock for Gesicki moving forward. The tight end continues to work as a great middle-of-the-field target for Joe Burrow and plays as a great complement to both receivers’ field-stretching ability.
While the matchup against the Texans does not look favorable on paper, Burrow will be under pressure all game long, meaning that he has to get the ball out quickly. That bodes well for Gesicki, who is athletic enough to get open over the middle of the field and provide Burrow with a big target. We saw Dalton Kincaid put together a career day against Houston last week. While I am not projecting Gesicki to put together a 130-yard performance, he will be on the field and provide a great target for Burrow.
More than just his immediate play, Gesicki acts as a receiver handcuff; if any of the Bengals receivers go down with an injury, he is the number one option to step up in the offense.
Kenyon Sadiq, Jets vs GB (34.8% owned)
Kenyon Sadiq was projected to be one of the better playmakers from the 2026 NFL Draft, and that paid off immediately for the Jets in Week 1. The Jets used Sadiq in a creative manner, lining him up all over the offense, which included a touchdown rush at the goal line. He was on the field for 42% of the Jets’ offensive snaps, and that number will only continue to rise as the season moves along.
What works in favor of Sadiq is his matchup against the Green Bay Packers this week. In the Matt LaFleur-era, the Packers have notoriously struggled against opposing tight ends, and that was once again apparent in Week 1. TJ Hockenson finished the game with four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown against the Packers. Given the injury to Omar Cooper Jr.’s ankle, Sadiq will be put into a larger receiving role in the immediate future, leading to Sadiq being a pickup if you need a Week 2 fantasy football TE streamer.
Michael Mayer, Raiders at LAC (29.8% owned)
Michael Mayer was one of the biggest names in fantasy football before the season, as many rushed to the waiver wire to pick him up with Brock Bowers being ruled out for Week 1. Even though that was the case, he is still available in just over 70% of leagues on ESPN. While it seems that when Bowers comes back, Mayer will be phased out of the offense, his recent contract extension would suggest otherwise.
Even with Bowers on the field, Mayer has a reliable role in the Raiders offense. First, while improved, the Raiders offensive line is still among the bottom in the NFL, so Mayer will be on the field to help block on the edge. Second, at this point in his career, Mayer is an underrated pass catcher. The Raiders made him their second-round pick in 2023 for a reason.
In a Week 2 matchup against the Chargers, Mayer is in a great spot to put together a solid week after Trey McBride finished Week 1 with 95 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers. Consider him to be a top candidate among your fantasy football TE streamers.
