There is nothing better than overreacting to Week 1 in the NFL season, especially when it comes to fantasy football. When looking at your fantasy team, quarterback is a position that is often set in stone, but if you plan on streaming this season, or you were rolling with Sam Darnold or Kyler Murray, you will need to be on the waiver wire this week.
We have highlighted all of the top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 2, but that’s not necessarily the list of the best players to add and start this weekend. Given what we saw from quarterback play, as well as defensive performances in Week 1, we can somewhat get an idea of what the position will look like next week. Below, we’ll cover three options for Week 2 fantasy football quarterback streamers.

Fantasy Football Week 2 QB Streamers
Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers vs CLE (59.4%)
It is kind of odd seeing Baker Mayfield owned in under 60% of ESPN leagues, considering he was a popular MVP pick at this time last season. Either way, if Mayfield is available in your league and you have a shaky quarterback situation, he is the top option among Week 2 fantasy football QB streamers. Mayfield finished Week 1 with just 216 yards and no touchdowns. While that does not sound great, things become tastier when you consider the matchup this week.
The Buccaneers take on the Cleveland Browns, who got shredded by Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lawrence finished the game with 245 yards and four touchdowns. Without Myles Garrett, this Browns defense is not good, especially in the secondary, giving Mayfield and the Buccaneers’ passing attack what they need to get back on track. Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin will be more involved this week, and Mayfield will look closer to what we saw at the start of last season compared to what we saw at the end of last season in Week 2.
Bryce Young, Panthers at ATL (11.2% owned)
Don’t look now, but Bryce Young is currently QB3 in fantasy football (for a full list of rankings, as well as other important stats and trends, check out the FlurrySports Playbook). Young completed 23-of-37 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns. On top of the strong passing game, Young added another touchdown on the ground.
This week, the Carolina Panthers take on the Atlanta Falcons, who sport a below-average defense, where Young will once again provide fantasy managers with a big day. With Tet McMillan, Jalen Coker, Darren Waller, Chuba Hubbard and Jonathan Brooks, the Panthers have the best collection of skill players in the franchise’s recent memory. Picking up Young in this spot not only provides a spot start for Week 2, but it also gives you a viable option moving forward, as the Panthers’ next three weeks consist of Atlanta, Cleveland and Detroit.
Drew Lock, Seahawks at ARI (0.1%)
If you are in a 20+ team or 2QB league and need a quarterback, Drew Lock becomes a relevant fantasy football QB streaming option. While it appears that Sam Darnold’s hip injury won’t keep him out for the long term, his status for Week 2 is up in the air, with what appears to be a likely chance that he misses the game. That means that Lock is in line to start this week, after finishing Week 1 against New England with 187 passing yards and one touchdown in relief of Darnold.
While Lock is not the sexiest pick, the matchup against Arizona provides great potential for a big week. Arizona’s Week 1 performance is more indicative of the Los Angeles Chargers coming out slow than what the Cardinals’ defense actually is. Outside of Budda Baker and Josh Sweat, there is nothing that scares you on this Cardinals defense. Given Lock’s experience in the NFL, this is not a situation where a backup quarterback is coming into the game with no experience. Lock has QB2 value this week, something that you need especially if you are a Darnold owner.
