Throughout the 2025-26 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams looked like one of the better teams in the entire league. That came on the back of Matt Stafford’s historic MVP season. The issue for the Rams this season, though, was the Seattle Seahawks. Not only did the Rams drop one of the craziest games in recent memory to the Seahawks, but they also dropped the NFC Championship. Now, with an aging Stafford and Davante Adams, on top of the whirlwind of an offseason for Puka Nacua, it appears that the Rams’ Super Bowl window is closing.
Coming into the 2026 NFL Draft, the Rams, while having a solid team, do have a couple of holes that they need to fill quickly. Keeping Stafford healthy is going to be a major point of emphasis for the Rams, as well as getting him another weapon. On the defensive side of the ball, Los Angeles needs to build depth at the linebacker position, as well as add a piece in the secondary. With the 13th pick, the Los Angeles Rams draft strategy is going to be one to monitor as the team needs to win sooner rather than later, given the uncertainty of the future.
Los Angeles Rams Draft Targets at No. 13
Spencer Fano, OT, Utah
Atop the Los Angeles Rams’ draft targets this season should be an offensive tackle. And if Spencer Fano is available at 13, it would be hard for Los Angeles to say no. Even with Matt Stafford at quarterback, we know that Sean McVay wants to establish the run. Fano has a ton of experience as a run-first blocker, so bringing him in will undoubtedly benefit both Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. On top of helping the run game, keeping Stafford as healthy as possible needs to be the Rams’ number one priority this offseason and bringing Fano in does just that.
The Rams have solid players on the offensive line, but bringing in someone like Fano gives them an opportunity to build around a franchise player for the future. Whoever the next quarterback is for Los Angeles will have the benefit of being kept clean from whatever side Fano plays.
Makai Lemon, WR, USC
Wide receiver should not be the top priority for the Rams, but if the board shakes out where their top offensive linemen have been selected, Makai Lemon has to be an option. Lemon is not going to be a one-on-one, jump-ball receiver in the NFL, but he should carve out a nice role as a slot/number three option in the NFL. The Rams could certainly use help out of the slot as Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are slotted on the outside receivers.
Similar to both Nacua and Adams, Lemon is sure-handed and can create great separation on crisp routes. Not that Stafford needs it, but Lemon will be able to create easy passes for him. With Lemon being the best route-running receiver in the draft, having a trio of Nacua, Adams and Lemon will mean that there will always be someone open on dropbacks.
Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee
The final dagger to the Los Angeles Rams’ season was Sam Darnold having the best game of his career in the NFC Championship. While the Rams did help to remedy that by picking up Trent McDuffie in the offseason, adding a young defensive back in Jermod McCoy will be beneficial. McCoy’s injury history makes him more of a mystery, but when we have seen him on the field, he has been awesome. In fact, McCoy might be the best corner in the entire draft. Drafting McCoy would be an interesting selection for the Rams, as even if there are concerns that he won’t be a day-one player, he will be able to learn under McDuffie.
The issue with this pick is that the Rams are in a window where they could use a starter to help them get over that hump. With that being said, if McCoy is ready to go Week 1, the Rams will have an instant upgrade on the other side of McDuffie.
