The Indianapolis Colts came oh so close to making the playoffs this season. A 9-8 record was not good enough for the playoffs this season. Carson Wentz had a roller-coaster season and the last downswing cost the Colts their chance. The Indianapolis Colts have some decisions to make in the 2022 Offseason, and they need to fix some things.
Here are three things the Indianapolis Colts must address during the 2022 NFL Offseason if they want to get back to the playoffs.
3 Things the Indianapolis Colts Must Address in the 2022 NFL Offseason
1. Figure Out How to Win in Jacksonville
You talk about having home-field advantage, that is what Jacksonville has over the Indianapolis Colts. The last time the Colts went to Jacksonville and won was in 2014. This year was no different, and it cost them their spot in the NFL Playoffs. Indianapolis needs to learn how to win in Jacksonville because it has cost them at least this season and who knows if it will cost them going forward.
2. Figure Out What to do With Carson Wentz
Carson Wentz was traded to the Indianapolis Colts during the last offseason. Wentz had an up and down year and now the Colts are looking to get out of his contract. If Wentz stays on the team, he will take up $28 million in cap space. Releasing him gives them even more in dead cap. If they trade him, his $28 million goes away. The options are open for the Colts to make a decision.
3. Get some WR Help for the QB
Michael Pittman Jr. was the only Colts WR to get over 1,000 yards this season. Every other eligible receiver had less than 400 yards. The receiving corps needs to help out their QB, and that didn’t happen much this season for the Colts. At the moment, they have $37 million in cap space to play with and no first-round draft pick. Look for the Colts to make some moves in NFL Free Agency.
