The first round of the draft is kicking off on Thursday, April 27th. Of course, draft analysis, projections and rumors will be dominating the NFL news until then. Zay Flowers Draft Profile
Strengths
Zay Flowers may only be 5’9″ and 182 pounds, but a major strength of his is his confidence and the overall fire he plays with. He’s a slot guy with above-average acceleration and athleticism that can take it to the house on any play. Flowers uses his quickness to trick opposing defenders and, once in the open field, becomes very slippery and will be tough to bring down. Despite his small frame, he has great ball-tracking skills and plays with an almost aggressive demeanor.
Weaknesses
Although his speed will pay off most of the time, it bleeds into other areas of his game and hurts it. Flowers seems like he is always in a hurry, which affects his routes and hands. His routes are just too rushed, leaving defenders unfazed in certain situations and his short arms and small hands certainly hinder his abilities even more. On top of the lack of overall strength, he had some issues with drops in college and it may be an even bigger issue once he’s in the NFL.
