This also gave Trey McBride the opportunity to flourish in an expanded role, making Ertz expendable once he became healthy. He also wished to compete with a contender, so the Cardinals let him go.
He waited for the perfect opportunity, and Ertz has found it. Zach Ertz joins a Detroit Lions offense that is already terrific. Ertz also gets the opportunity to put together two strong performances at San Francisco this season.
Back in October, Ertz turned 10 targets into 53 against the 49ers. Obviously, playing in the NFC West with the Cardinals, Ertz is familiar with the 49ers, as this was the team to beat in the division.
