Taking place at the start of 2023, FIFA Club World Cup edition 2022 is all set to take place, with seven teams from different regions to battle to be crowned champions. This unique, anticipated event will run from February 1 to February 11 in Morocco.

The 19th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to kick off today, February 1 – February 11, 2023.

FIFA Club World Cup Preview:

Seven top men’s football teams from six continents (Europe, North America, South America, Oceania, Africa, and Asia) participated in the tournament, with six selected from six confederations and one team to be selected from the league champions of the host nation.

Initially, the tournament was scheduled to take place in December 2022 but was postponed due to the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

FIFA Club World Cup Teams:

The following seven teams are participating in the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup:

Real Madrid (Europe):

Spanish Giants Real Madrid qualified for the competition by winning the 2021-22 edition of the UEFA Champions League, winning the final against Liverpool. Real Madrid is the most successful side in the tournament with four titles under their name and would be looking forward to extending their lead.

Seattle Sounders (North & Central America):

Seattle Sounders qualified for the competition following the win against UNAM, their first-ever CONCACAF tournament win.

Flamengo (South America):

From the South American region, Brazilian club Flamengo qualified for the event after they won the Copa Libertadores final against Athletico Paranaense, their fellow Brazilian side.

Al Hilal (Asia):

Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal will be presenting Asia in the FIFA competition as they beat Pohang Steelers, a South Korean side, in the AFC Champions League final and became the Asian Club Champions.

Auckland City (Oceania):

Following their 3-0 win against French Polynesian side Venus, Auckland City won their tenth OFC Champions League title, qualifying for the FIFA competition in the process as well.

Wydad Casablanca (Africa):

African side Wydad Casablanca qualified for the competition by winning the CAF Champions League, automatically qualifying as the host nation side.

Al Ahly (Africa):

Al Ahly qualified for the competition by making it to the final of the CAF Champions League. Title-winning side Wydad Casablanca automatically qualified as the host nation side, while Al Ahly secured the final place reserved for an African club in the competition.

2023 FIFA Club World Cup Schedule:

A total of seven knockout games will be played. Extra time and penalties are included if necessary. However, third place fixture is an exception, with the game going to penalties if the match draws in 90 minutes.
