Sabres vs Avalanche Prediction | NHL Betting Picks

It’s been a tough start to the season again for the Buffalo Sabres and it looks as if they’re in real danger of missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 13th straight season. While they have dealt with injuries, currently to winger Alex Tuch among others, their problem has been with their lack of offense. The Sabres average just 2.9 goals per game and have a goal differential of -12 which is 14th in the Eastern Conference.

On the other side of the ice, the Avalanche once again look to be true contenders this season. After being upset by the Seattle Kraken last year, Colorado hasn’t missed a step as they look to take the Central division crown for the third straight year. The Avalanche give up just over three goals per game and are one of three teams in the Western Conference to have scored 100 goals this year.

While Buffalo is coming off a 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes, they have won just four of their last 10 games. Colorado has only won five of their last 10, but two of their losses were in overtime or a shootout.

Earlier this year, Buffalo took Colorado to school, beating them 4-0 at home in late October. That game is most notably remembered for a hit on Colorado’s All-Star defenseman Cale Makar that knocked him out for part of the second period. In addition, it also led to a two-minute and 10-minute penalty for All-Star center Nathan MacKinnon for letting the officials know his opinion on the lack of a penalty on the hit.

Colorado will be out for blood in this game and are at home as well. It seems incredibly unlikely that similar circumstances play out from their first meeting, so that result can be taken with a grain of salt. Bet on the Avalanche to beat the Sabres convincingly and cover the spread.
