QB Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
Marcus Mariota, Falcons (14.4%)
With quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts on bye this week, the priority of picking up a backup on the fantasy football waiver wire is as high as it is going to get. A good plug-in option barring a good matchup is Marcus Mariota. He isn’t flashy or consistent enough to trust him week in and week out, but he finds value with his legs and seems to be adjusting to his weapons on the offense. It will always be hard to trust him, but the 15+ fantasy point performances are very doable given his rushing value.
Matt Ryan, Colts (12.5%)
After most fantasy managers moved on from Matt Ryan and his miserable fantasy performances, he dominated and finished as the QB2. Ryan did face the Jaguars in Indianapolis, so the Colts had an automatic advantage but he wasn’t sporadic or turnover prone like he has been thus far. It’s evident he has some sneaky good weapons and, once Jonathan Taylor returns to the lineup, he can lighten his workload a bit and keep the opposing defense guessing more often.
RB Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
Deon Jackson, Colts (32.8%)
Deon Jackson saw his ownership increase nearly 30 percent overnight once it was announced that both Nyheim Hines and Taylor were ruled out. Jackson flashed in Week 6 with strong runs and explosiveness, but he found his fantasy value through the air. Since Ryan was playing well, the players around him were too, and Jackson benefited from plenty of check-downs, giving him the RB1 finish with 28.1 fantasy points. His value and upside obviously come back down to Earth once either running back returns, but it was a steal for the fantasy managers that started him.
Brian Robinson, Commanders (50.2%)
The process of getting Brian Robinson into the lead-back role in Washington is slowly becoming reality. He led the team in carries last week, with 17 for 60 yards and a touchdown. Both J.D. McKissic and Antonio Gibson are still very much a part of the offense in different roles, but it is obvious the Commanders want Robinson handling nearly all rushing duties. He’s led the team in carries in back-to-back games and has some favorable matchups coming up soon, making him among the best fantasy football waiver wire pickups in Week 7.
WR Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
Rondale Moore, Cardinals (46.5%)
The Arizona Cardinals offense is painful to watch at this point, but injuries are all over the place, opening opportunities for other players to provide value. Rondale Moore has gotten consistent volume since returning to the lineup this season, but with Hollywood Brown out, his upside increases even more. Kyler Murray tends to latch onto a main receiver throughout the course of games, and with so many injuries, Moore could be that guy just because of availability and chemistry. Keep in mind that DeAndre Hopkins returns this week and the Cardinals traded for Robbie Anderson.
Alec Pierce, Colts (25.2%)
Alec Pierce is the third Colt to make the list today, but his volume cannot go unnoticed. After starting his rookie season off slow with lackluster performances, he has proven the FlurrySports experts correct.
Pierce has seen at least five targets in four straight games. With Ryan building off his strong performance, the upside is endless. That passing game can be good if the running game and offensive line are humming. Pierce has cemented himself as the WR2 and No. 2 option overall in the Colts passing game.
TE Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
Mike Gesicki, Dolphins (40.0%)
It is simply too hard to trust Mike Gesicki on a consistent basis because of the Dolphins quarterback situation and the lack of volume on the season. Teddy Bridgewater latched onto Gesicki in the red zone, resulting in two receiving touchdowns. This is Gesicki’s second double-digit performance of the season, catching touchdowns in both, but the other four matchups have been awful. Once Tua Tagovailoa returns to the lineup, Gesicki will essentially disappear from the offensive game plan. Regardless, he at least has high-touchdown upside, with three on the season.
Robert Tonyan, Packers (27.6%)
Robert Tonyan has been quiet this season, but he has still posted at least 9.0 fantasy points in three of six games. The Packers offense is a huge mess because of the offensive line, lack of receiving talent and questionable play calls. Last week, Aaron Rodgers couldn’t get anything going, but he still targeted Tonyan 12 times, a team-high. With the tight end position being an absolute wasteland this year, that target share is promising enough.
