The number of massive running back performances in Week 2 really took a hit, with only five players scoring above 20 points. Of course, actual points were harder to come by this weekend, due to weather, turnovers and overall sloppy play. If you have a fantasy RB with a high usage rate, hold them close and don’t let them go. However, if you have more questions than answers at RB2 or Flex, you could be searching for fantasy football RB streaming candidates in Week 3.
We have highlighted all of the top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 3, but that’s not necessarily the list of the best players to add and start this weekend. If you are in a pickle and are looking for Week 3 fantasy football RB streamers to start, you have come to the right place. Let’s throw long-term thinking out of the window and instead focus on the matchup staring you in the face.
Below, I have listed three fantasy football streaming candidates at the running back position. All of these players are widely available, so check your waiver wire to see if they are there!

Alvin Kamara, Saints vs LV (37.5%)
I included Alvin Kamara in my fantasy pickups for Week 3, so I will repeat myself a little bit here. Despite finishing with only 7.2 fantasy points in PPR scoring, his usage is something to be interested in, especially if it continues against a softer defense.
Travis Etienne nearly lost the football in the game against Baltimore, and he was punished a bit. As a result, the Saints stuck with Kamara despite him not being efficient with these touches. He played just 29% of the snaps in his return from injury, but he had a team-high 15 looks, which was five more than Etienne. Kamara had both a red zone carry and target as well. You can find much more information like this in the FlurrySports Playbook.
I’m not the biggest Alvin Kamara fan, and I have been a big critic of his over the past few seasons. However, we are talking about a player who got 15 looks while playing on a team that can move the ball. If he gets the same workload against an easier opponent, like the Raiders this week, then we’re talking Flex value, at the absolute minimum.
The best fantasy football RB streamers don’t have to be new names or young guys, so pick the veteran up off the waiver wire if you need a player in Week 3. We know he has a role.
Tyjae Spears, Titans vs NYG (49%)
It has been a matter of health for Tyjae Spears, who has been lurking around fantasy relevance the past couple of seasons. When he is healthy, he has looked good in his part-time role, but his overall usage and role have been inconsistent due to availability issues.
Right now, Spears is healthy and playing well, giving him some fantasy relevance despite the crowded Tennessee backfield. In Week 2, Spears played just 36% of the snaps, but he averaged 0.47 fantasy points per snap, which is terrific. Cleats were literally melting in the game due to heat, so the Titans were wise to split snaps up more than usual. Spears played half of Week 1 snaps, so I imagine he returns to this workload this week in a good matchup against the Giants.
The Giants are allowing 5.0 yards per carry this season, and they have also given up two receiving touchdowns out of the backfield already. Tyjae Spears is a dual-threat out of the backfield who could give NYG some headaches. While he may need an explosive play to score a touchdown, he is more than capable of producing one against this Giants defense in Week 3.
Jonah Coleman, Broncos vs LAR (22.1%)
While I don’t love the matchup for Jonah Coleman, the Denver Broncos’ rookie running back found himself in the lead role in Week 2, and the same could happen in Week 3. RJ Harvey was out with a hamstring injury, then JK Dobbins left the game with a hamstring injury of his own, leading to Coleman seeing 13 touches.
A touchdown saved Coleman’s day, as he was inefficient with his touches. He managed just 19 receiving yards on three touches, and he averaged just 3.9 yards per carry. The matchup against the Rams looks tough, and Coleman didn’t exactly impress in his first chance with increased touches, but opportunity leads to productivity in fantasy football.
It is likely that either RJ Harvey or JK Dobbins will play in Week 3, but if either misses, Coleman has the skill set to fill in, no matter if it is a third-down or early-down role. If neither play, then Coleman will be ranked among the low-end RB2 crowd.
