Aaron Rodgers at New England Patriots (20.3%)
In Week 1, we got a glimpse of Aaron Rodgers going back to being the best quarterback in the NFL. While Week 2 brought Rodgers back down to Earth, and in Week 3, I am gearing up to start Rodgers if I need a spot start for an injured JJ McCarthy or Joe Burrow. Through two weeks, the New England Patriots have gotten absolutely shredded in the pass game. They have given up a total of 677 yards and three touchdowns through the air. They are league-worst in passing yards given up.
With Rodgers at the helm of the Steelers, Pittsburgh has a chance to get back on track after a tough loss in Week 2. With DK Metcalf, Jonnu Smith and Calvin Austin, who excel with the ball in their hands, Rodgers is due for a big week against a defense that has looked awful through two weeks.
Carson Wentz vs Cincinnati Bengals (1.3%)
Carson Wentz is set to start in the Minnesota Vikings’ Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals after an injury to JJ McCarthy. While Wentz’s name does not significantly set alarms off in your head anymore, it is hard to argue that Wentz is not in line for a good week this week. First of all, Wentz steps into an offense with a solid offensive line, TJ Hockenson, Jordan Morgan and, of course, Justin Jefferson. Second of all, the Vikings get the Cincinnati Bengals this week, who have given up 561 yards and four touchdowns through two weeks this season.
While Wentz is not the sexiest name at the fantasy football QB position anymore, he was at one point in his career an MVP candidate. If there is anything left in the tank, Wentz certainly has the pieces around him, as well as the matchup, to put together a solid week this week.
Mac Jones vs Arizona Cardinals (3.1%)
Kyle Shanahan has been wanting Mac Jones as his starting quarterback ever since the 2021 NFL Draft, and he finally got his wish last week. Jones put together a great week, recording 279 yards and three touchdowns. He has a chance to put up similar numbers this week, as the Arizona Cardinals have not been great against the pass this season so far. Through two weeks, Arizona has given up 542 yards and three touchdowns. Even without George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, Jones was able to connect with Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall pretty easily. On top of that, Jones is not afraid of taking check-down passes, which Christian McCaffrey thrives on.
Like Wentz, Jones is not the sexiest name to start at the fantasy football QB position, but again, the opportunity is too nice to pass up. The Shanahan and Jones marriage is set to start another chapter, while San Francisco looks like it should be able to pass well against the Cardinals.
