Looking for fantasy football streamers for your defense in NFL Week 3? We have you covered, with the Atlanta Falcons included in our best options!
Offenses may have looked better across the NFL this past week, but there are still plenty of viable defense fantasy football streamers options to consider as we turn the page to Week 3. Each game that is played provides us with an additional data point on how defenses around the league are trending this season. Of course, the same can be said for the offenses that will be going up against said defenses on a weekly basis. Zeroing in on bad offensive teams is just as important as identifying strong fantasy defenses.
While streaming the D/ST position in fantasy so often comes down to matchups, one can’t help but notice a lack of clarity when it comes to which team defenses are actually good early on in the season. For instance, the Green Bay Packers (74.3%), Los Angeles Rams (51.3%) and Los Angeles Chargers (8.2%) all appear to have above-average defenses this year at a minimum. Yet, the ESPN ownership percentages noted for these teams are surprisingly low and suggest that many managers could easily find at least one, if not more, of these three defenses available in their league.
While any of the three teams mentioned above could prove to be a solid long-term play at the position, we have several other Week 3 defense fantasy football streamers highlighted below that have promising matchups. Be sure to also check out our Week 3 fantasy football rankings!
Week 3 Defense Fantasy Football Streamers
Atlanta Falcons Fantasy DST (14.7%)
On the heels of a dominant performance in primetime this past Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons now find themselves as a top fantasy football streamers candidate for Week 3. Best of all, ownership remains incredibly low for a unit that has started the season off strong. While I personally have some gripes with Raheem Morris as a head coach, there’s no denying his expertise when it comes to defense. The addition of coordinator Jeff Ulbrich appears to be paying dividends as well. Through two games, Atlanta ranks second in passing yards allowed, ninth in rushing yards allowed and fifth in overall adjusted defensive efficiency, per FanDuel Research.
Further legitimizing the Falcons’ hot start is the fact that they have played two capable offenses out of the gate. If they were able to force four turnovers and generate a half-dozen sacks against a solid Minnesota Vikings outfit, one has to wonder what they will be capable of in Week 3 against Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers. Yes, this is a divisional clash, so things could get weird. That said, the Panthers’ offense has done next to nothing thus far outside of garbage time last week. The linebacker tandem of Divine Deablo and Kaden Elliss will look to spearhead the Falcons’ effort in ensuring this trend continues on Sunday.
More Fantasy Football Streamers Week 3
Indianapolis Colts Fantasy DST (37.9%)
Our second fantasy football defense streamers option for Week 3 is far more matchup-based than anything. Based on traditional D/ST fantasy scoring on ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts rank ninth overall at the position through two games. It’s worth pointing out off the top that the Colts were much better in Week 1 against a hapless Miami squad than a week ago against a more competent offense. That said, new coordinator Lou Anarumo figures to continue getting quality games out of this unit moving forward.
Another golden opportunity awaits the Colts in Week 3 as they hit the road to face the Tennessee Titans. While there have been promising flashes from rookie QB Cam Ward, the growing pains have been very real for this offense through two games. Tennessee ranks dead last in adjusted offensive efficiency so far, thus making it tough to see a huge offensive outburst in this matchup against a defense with star talent at all three levels. Look for the Colts to win the line of scrimmage with regularity and post another solid stat line.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fantasy DST (24.5%)
Dating back to the second half of last season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a force defensively against opposing rushing attacks in particular. On Monday night this past week, Nick Chubb managed to turn 12 carries into 43 yards and a score, though they certainly let him break a run for the touchdown for strategic reasons. That is truthfully one of the best outputs of a leading rusher against the Bucs’ defense spanning their last 10 games. With Vita Vea anchoring the interior of the defensive line, perhaps this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The Buccaneers did lose Calijah Kancy to a torn pec this past week, but that isn’t enough to dampen their fantasy football streamers appeal.
Next up for Tampa Bay is a home game against a run-first New York Jets offense in Week 3. Not only that, but the Jets will likely be counting on backup QB Tyrod Taylor this week as Justin Fields is in concussion protocol. New York surprised the NFL world with a strong offensive showing in the opener before having a complete no-show performance last week. Let’s also keep in mind that this is a “revenge game” for Todd Bowles, which could mean a poor Jets offensive line may be forced to deal with a few extra blitzes on Sunday.
