Man, it sure is great to have football back! Week 1 of the NFL season had it all. From big favorites winning easily to some of the largest underdogs of the slate not only covering the spread but winning outright, there was plenty that caught the eye. Along with exciting football, there has to be movement in the Week 2 NFL Power Rankings.
As you may expect, the first few weeks of the season will bring about the greatest amounts of change in how teams are viewed up when stacked up against one another. The FlurrySports Week 2 NFL Power Rankings are no exception to this trend. With the absence of a preseason, these initial regular season games represent the first true looks we are getting of every team this year. In an effort to perfect the balance between what we saw on the field in Week 1 and unnecessary overreactions, here is how things shook out.
One thing is for certain: there’s plenty more shuffling to come!
Week 2 NFL Power Rankings
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Preseason Ranking: 1
All is well in Chiefs Kingdom. An Opening Night win that finished closer on the scoreboard than it ever felt on the actual field solidified that the defending Super Bowl champs are back for more this season. Running back Edwards-Helaire delivered in his NFL debut, and Andy Reid’s face shield game was the best of anyone on an NFL sideline in Week 1.
2. Baltimore Ravens
Preseason Ranking: 2
After bowing out early in the postseason last year, the Ravens showed up in a big way to open 2020. Lamar Jackson dialed up 3 touchdown passes and Baltimore flustered Baker Mayfield throughout to run away from it. Game script may have done the Cleveland rushing attack in, but the Ravens still appear to have some work to do in the run defense department as both Kareem Hunt (5.5 ypc) and Nick Chubb (6.0 ypc) were finding lanes.
3. New Orleans Saints
Preseason Ranking: 4
The Saints got to play spoiler to the debut of Tompa Bay. Alvin Kamara’s positive touchdown regression campaign began in earnest while the defense flustered Tom Brady and the Bucs all game long. Michael Thomas’ ankle injury was the only glaring negative of the Week 1 effort.
4. Seattle Seahawks
Preseason Ranking: 6
Nothing has changed for Seattle offensively. Russel Wilson and Co. still know how to score points. Defensively, holding the explosive Falcons attack to 25 points has to be considered a win. And Jamal Adams wasn’t bored! Go figure.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
Preseason Ranking: 5
It took the Steelers a little longer than perhaps expected to separate from the Giants, but that was ultimately the outcome. Ben Roethlisberger had a successful 3-touchdown return, JuJu Smith-Schuster is having fun, and the opportunistic defense showed its face once again, thwarting a 19-play New York drive with a back-breaking red zone INT.
6. Los Angeles Rams
Preseason Ranking: 9
Its doubtful many Fantasy Football owners had Malcolm Brown in their starting lineups. That may change in the foreseeable future, as the veteran looks to be the primary back over youngsters Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. On another note, Aaron Donald is really good.
7. Green Bay Packers
Preseason Ranking: 16
We knew that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense had incredible potential. What we didn’t know is that they would come out and drop 43 in a Week 1 onslaught. It’s very encouraging that both Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling joined Devante Adams in being big contributors on the stat sheet. Green Bay desperately needs at least one of them to continue to be a reliable second option.
8. San Francisco 49ers
Preseason Ranking: 3
I’ll let you decide for yourself whether or not the disappointing home loss to the Arizona Cardinals signifies the 49ers are suffering a Super Bowl hangover. What is apparent is the void in pass catchers. With no Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk, the Cardinals were able to sell out on covering George Kittle.
9. Buffalo Bills
Preseason Ranking: 14
Buffalo had one of the NFL’s best defenses a season ago. That same unit is back (and maybe better), and now there’s an offense full of playmakers to complement it. If Josh Allen performs as he did in Week 1, the Bills will continue to rise up these rankings.

10. Tennessee Titans
Preseason Ranking: 11
Minus the kicking game, the Titans looked every bit the part of a complete team Monday night. Hopefully knocking the game-winner through clean gets Stephen Gostkowski righted around. It was particularly encouraging to see Corey Davis play well. If he and A.J. Brown both can be consistent targets, this offense is nasty.
11. Dallas Cowboys
Preseason Ranking: 7
CeeDee Lamb showed us several flashes in his NFL debut. And Michael Gallup did push off Cowboys fans. Go watch the replay.
12. New England Patriots
Preseason Ranking: 12
The Bill Belichick-Cam Newton era is off and running. Literally. Newton’s 75 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns indicate the former MVP is indeed in good health.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Preseason Ranking: 10
The Saints were about as difficult of a debut matchup Tom Brady could’ve gotten with his new team. There’s too much talent here for the Bucs to not put it all together eventually.
14. Los Angeles Chargers
Preseason Ranking: 15
The Chargers defense stepped up big in what was an uninspiring offensive performance. If Tyrod Taylor puts it together, this could very well be the most overlooked team in the NFL.
15. Philadelphia Eagles
Preseason Ranking: 8
The injuries continued to pile up, Carson Wentz made several bad decisions, and the Eagles blew a 17-0 lead against the lackluster offense of the Washington Football Team. Not a good start.
16. Arizona Cardinals
Preseason Ranking: 19
What a Cardinals debut for DeAndre Hopkins. Arizona’s defense will give up points to opposing teams with better receivers, but this offense will continue to be fun to watch.
17. Chicago Bears
Preseason Ranking: 25
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Mitchell Trubisky looked like a competent NFL quarterback in the comeback of the week. Now, can we get some consistency? The trajectory of this Chicago season is riding on their quarterback play.
18. Las Vegas Raiders
Preseason Ranking: 26
The secondary woes were on full display, but the Raiders took care of business offensively. Can they keep it up and win the team’s home opener in Las Vegas next week?
19. Minnesota Vikings
Preseason Ranking: 13
No overreaction here: this defense is bad. Very bad. Namely, the secondary which, other than safety Harrison Smith, experience a complete makeover in the offseason. And they were quickly exposed by one of the best QBs in the game.
20. Atlanta Falcons
Preseason Ranking: 22
Calvin Ridley balled out, but once again, Atlanta’s defense looks to be a real weakness. The Falcons had better hope they can outscore most opponents because they likely won’t be stopping them.
21. Houston Texans
Preseason Ranking: 17
David Johnson looked great, but the Texans missed DeAndre Hopkins in their very first game without him. Someone needs to step up to be a consistent receiving threat behind Will Fuller.
22. Detroit Lions
Preseason Ranking: 21
A brutal loss that was oh so Detroit Lions-like. On a positive note, the team may finally have not just one reliable running back but two. D’Andre Swift played well in his pro debut and you can’t discount the ageless Adrian Peterson.
23. Washington Football Team
Preseason Ranking: 29
In one of the bigger upsets of the week, Football Team took down the Eagles despite only 178 yards passing from Dwayne Haskins and no Washington player exceeding 36 yards rushing. What you might’ve overlooked is Team’s top-10 defense, a unit that is capable of keeping them in games on a weekly basis.
24. Denver Broncos
Preseason Ranking: 20
The Broncos managed to contain Derrick Henry even without their defensive leader Von Miller, but it was an uphill battle for the offense much of the night. This team has plenty of young talent, but it could take time to translate into wins.
25. Indianapolis Colts
Preseason Ranking: 18
Two interceptions and a loss to the not-so-terrible Jaguars were not parts of the Colts debut Philip Rivers had in mind. Losing Marlon Mack for the year ushers Jonathan Taylor into the lead back role, while Nyheim Hines looks to be Rivers’ newfound Austin Ekeler. The Colts may also opt to sign a free agent to aid the cause for what figures to be a run-first offense.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars
Preseason Ranking: 31
Minshew Mania baby! A few more 19-for-20, 3-touchdown performances and Jacksonville won’t need to bother drafting Trevor Lawrence. James Robinson had an impressive debut with 62 yards rushing. And CJ Henderson notched his first career interception. Can they sustain this surprise success?
27. Cleveland Browns
Preseason Ranking: 24
How much of the Browns atrocious Week 1 performance can be attributed to the stellar Ravens team they were up against? We’ll find out quickly, as they host the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
28. New York Giants
Preseason Ranking: 28
Even without Golden Tate, the Giants were able to move the ball surprisingly well against arguably the NFL’s best defense. The Daniel Jones-Darius Slayton connection could be fun to watch for years to come.
29. Miami Dolphins
Preseason Ranking: 27
FitzMagic failed to show up for Week 1 this year, as the bearded signal-caller threw 3 picks. It was an uninspiring debut for the new running back tandem of Jordan Howard and Matt Breida as well. Both were out-touched by Myles Gaskin.
30. Carolina Panthers
Preseason Ranking: 32
The Panthers’ defense is rather helpless, so Carolina will have to score in bunches to be competitive this year. A 30-point effort in the debut of Matt Rhule’s offense at the NFL level has to be considered a good start though.
31. Cincinnati Bengals
Preseason Ranking: 30
To their credit, the Bengals held in tough against a Chargers team that is vastly superior in talent overall. Joe Burrow showed plenty of poise and promise throughout. He could impress against the depleted Browns secondary this Thursday.
32. New York Jets
Preseason Ranking: 23
Oh my. Sam Darnold looks confused, Le’Veon Bell is out with a hamstring injury, and Adam Gase doesn’t appear to have much of the locker room on his side. Jamison Crowder and Marcus Maye were pretty much the only bright spots.
